Work Bench & Garage Version 2

Built the shelving unit skeleton earlier this week. Today, I realized, I failed the first rule of building - read the blueprints... I don't know why, but I designed the shelve 2x4s that are there for the 'depth' were designed to mount to the 'length' boards, rather than screwing directly into...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Drove the TJ for the first time in a couple weeks. Ran out to grab lunch and saw this palindrome when I parked it back in the driveway. :)

Work Bench & Garage Version 2

Yes - This thing is heavy. It'll be fixed. It's a '2-car garage' with a single 'double-wide' door. I'd hate my life if I parked 2 cars in there every day... :ROFLMAO: So far the welding table & portable Black & Decker workbench have worked on the projects that I've needed to work in the middle...

Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

Can't dictate my boys being interested in auto work but I can hope to encourage them. Don't you have a jeep on the trailer for your daughter? No time like the present to get her involved when you wrench on it (once you clear garage space). ;)

Building Homer (2005 TJ Build Thread)

You've got a good one there! With me buying the Savvy engine skid, my wife and I were reminiscence about her gifting me the SkidRow engine skid for Christmas while we were dating. She managed to get it wrapped and I love her for it! She is beyond supportive of the money hole that is Homer...

Building Homer (2005 TJ Build Thread)

I've been holding off on pics of the Jeep in all it's glory until I get to work on the paint - plans to claybar, polish, & wax. Next up is to paint the frame. I'm still running without a bumper... I'll get some shot up next time I get him on the road. Working on the garage now...

Daily Driver, Go Where I Want To Build

Congrats on getting the OEM washer bottle to fit. I went with an aftermarket for my GR inners. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/building-homer-2005-tj-build-thread.69559/page-9#post-1433257 It is significantly smaller.... Just run the wipers to clean the windows and I'm about 10% down on...

    A rebuild of #miRustyJeep...

I suspected as much on the soft-foot/quick release clamps from HF... Gotta try some name brand to compare. I figure they would be good for initial placement but metal vice-grip styles will be the go-to for the final install/drilling.

Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

I'm already long term planning — it could be a fun dad/sons project to build an engine together when they get old enough to participate... ;) Agree though, everything for them comes first!

Work Bench & Garage Version 2

Started off the day running to HF to get a router and a 1" deep flat-trim bit. Finished cutting the remaining plywood. Here's the 'kit' for my workbench: Still had to notch each shelf to fit inside the supports... Got through Workbench #1 (left-most workbench section closest to the air...

Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

Got it. Thanks! Wasn't tracking out oil pressure issue, too. Fingers crossed you get both figured out! I want it in a first gen Camaro and I would really want it to be a 383. My wallet may disagree... My life may say - use the vehicle you have... (Yup - I said life, you all know what I...

Building Homer (2005 TJ Build Thread)

I've been eyeing that style of grab handles but hesistant to modify the interior trim. But I'm going to be drilling the trim to add tweeters - so what the heck is the difference to cut the top portion? Great idea! I like the idea of the over-sized shade to add more coverage. 90% of the time...

    A rebuild of #miRustyJeep...

Thanks. I picked up the Rotobroach after @hosejockey61 did his recent review of it. I need to work on my clamp game for sure in prep for this. May need to see if the $$ is worth the spend on the name brand vs HF as I've cataloged a couple handfuls of the HF ones in various sizes. My c-clamp...

Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

Tracking. I probably could have worded my response better when I was referencing the leak, under vacuum. ;) With the lead down test, are you able to get definitively rule out piston rings, valves, etc. or are you getting a piece of the puzzle confirmed. Obviously in this case, if you have a...

What did you do to your TJ today?

I like the tape guards to keep the black strip from below the doors when closed (I know there are versions that stay inside the door and I'm eyeing them). I've eyed 3M clear tape options but haven't pulled the trigger. Long statement to say — I feel @Cooper Smith in knowing it needs attention...

    A rebuild of #miRustyJeep...

Great work! Alignment looks awesome! I'll be watching because y'all are getting me closer to thinking this is a purchase on my horizon. Look forward to watching your install. Are you building aluminum backing plate inside the bed or did you buy the GR steel backing plate? Appreciate if you...

Wildman's TJ is getting a face lift

I hate to say this but I've been thinking it since you said you have the vacuum leak on the coolant... Do you think the head gaskets are leaking? I'm an amateur when it comes to internal engine diagnosis. Curious if there is a way to check to confirm it is a head gasket leak - before just...

Work Bench & Garage Version 2

Cut down the plywood for the workbench top and shelves. I cut them a little wide and plan to use a router with trim bit to cut it to the final size. Used the 4x4s to elevate the plywood. Having 2 lengths of boards on each side of the cut kept the board from folding-in and binding the blade...

Doing It The Hard Way - JL Steering Box and a Front Stretch

Are you using the blue tape to keep un-painted parts from rusting or is that scratch protection?
