2005 Jeep TJ 42RLE Neutral Safety Switch

Tracing the wiring diagrams isn't the easiest thing to do, since you have to jump several pages to follow the whole circuit. What I sometimes do is re-draw it on to a single page (with the FSM page references) so I can see the whole thing at once. But you probably don't have to do that...

42RLE torque converter clutch noise after service

If you used only ATF+4 I would not expect the brand to give you any different results. I've used "name brand" and I've used Oreilly brand, walmart brand, and tons of it. If you used anything other than pure ATF+4, I would love to hear feedback because I would expect problems...

Bond it or Screw it to Dashboard?

We'll see if we can manage to not invoke the name of Zorba here, but mounting my phone near the A pillar seems to be inviting a phone+roadway meeting of the minds. The mount may break, the magnet or holding mechanism might not be enough for that curb you just hit at the mall, or you might just...

    Transmission Codes P0700 & P0740

you should start a new thread, honestly. Also include your year & trans info. Sounds like you have an 03-06 based on context clues, but would be nice to be certain.

    Under the hood control module

I used this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KHVHLL5?tag=wranglerorg-20 which is in a waterproof case. How waterproof remains to be seen. I mounted it on the tray under my brake booster, and then wired it to a switch panel in the cab. I also used a distribution block mounted to the fender to...

    S133 splice location

well, I took the section of harness that goes to the transmission & beyond and pulled it all up into the engine bay. I didn't completely disconnect it. For my purposes that was all I needed to do. I would do that a million times over dropping the trans to work on electrical. And I like...

What did you do to your TJ today?

This is why you drive through deep water after a stint in the mud. Idler pulley rinse cycle. This is wheeling 101 stuff.

Make sure you don't share the link.

    Under the hood control module

A number of us use relay boxes, either DIY'd or off the shelf. It was definitely satisfying to have built my own, but having also installed an SPOD in my JKU.....the SPOD was so much cleaner & easier than wiring up an entire relay box with fuses etc.

    S133 splice location

The fuel pump & sensor are in that same bundle that goes over the transmission, iirc. On my 97 I've had to pull that entire harness up into the engine bay to do major surgery, and part of that included disconnecting at the back corner. Now that said, on my buddy's 02 (or was it is 00?) I...

    O2 Sensor Reading Interpretation

Same. I just sell all this tech, I'm a real laggard on actually using it. (although I do have something cool for our How To indexing coming out soon). Collecting the learning set would be the hard part, how do we get a bunch of old farts to collect data and submit it. And the 02 data by...

    O2 Sensor Reading Interpretation

Geez we need to train a model on how do diagnose O2 sensor readings. It's all just jagged graphs and all we really seem to know is that it has to stay within some range. If only we had something like a computer that could be trained to figure it out.

Do any of the loaner tool balljoint presses work?

I may or may not have borrowed one from Autozone that had a DIY'd angled cup that I forgot to put back in the case when I returned it. I know from experience. No, you don't. I mean, well, I guy I know. Him and Veronica Vaughn got. it. on. No, they didn't. But you can imagine if they did.

What did you do to your TJ today?

What exactly did you replace it with? This will come as no shock to most, but when I replaced the ignition in my 97 I did not use mopar. And it is a little sticky, so much so that I have to actually take the key out slightly to verify that we are off. (I keep the key in the ignition 95% of...

    No ACC Key Position?

The button is for manuals. I just posted about this in the What did you do to your TJ thread, but my 97 autos don't have anything "behind" OFF. My 02 stick has the button and has ACC behind OFF. I recall old Jerry insisting that I was wrong about my 97's so IDK. For that matter, I"m not...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Oh, I also discovered why my 02 keeps running down the battery. The TL;DR is that the owner is dumb. When I bought it, I noticed that the radio stayed on after I turned it off, so I assumed that bubba incorrectly wired it up off constant 12V rather than accessory and never bothered to...
