I would go under the jeep (while cold) and shake different parts of the exhaust looking for any loose exhaust shields or hangers. Or look for any debris hung up on the skid

The oil pressure sensor is junk. I replaced mine with a mopar one and it slowly died 9 months later too. oil pressure sensor was right above the oil filter housing on my 97, not sure what year you have though

idk Ive started using diesel oil in my older cars for the additives. But oil is oil, if I had to I wouldn’t mind swapping to any other api certified oil

I’m betting your thermostat dropped out of the block when you put the housing over it, this is exactly what happened to me. I would recommend putting a tad of RTV on the thermostat on the outside so it sticks to the block better and doesnt fall.

well the machinist should tell you if you need a new engine or not, as long as the engine did not over heat to an extent that the head warped your mechanic should be able to slap a new head gasket on and you'll be on your way. but ultimately your machinist will tell you if you need an engine or not.

Finally got this old yota engine to run after 20 years of sitting in some swamp. It runs perfect other than timing and the TPS being a little off. flushing the coolant that’s in there, looks like they mixed coolants as there was orange gel in the hardliners I took off to clean.

This is exactly what my Tj would do. It would tick on start Up and would go away after warming up and it was a leak in the exhaust manifold. It eventually got louder and stopped going away and that’s when I found the leak. Replaced manifold, fixed ticking.

Working on a 87 mr2 that was left to die after the original owner passed away. Finally got her to run and it started up almost instantly but dies just as fast due to a massive vacuum leak. The engine bay is a little more cramped than the tj I would say, just a couple more hoses

Not sure if this is a 97 only thing but My 97 Did not come with a Center console. it had a singular cup holder that was useless cuz it made it impossible to shift into second gear if I had anything in there.
