    Help identifying front bumper manufacturer

I picked this up on Craigslist. I don’t see any markings on it. Bumper thickness is .260, so I think 1/4” plate.

    Help identifying lower control arm

This is my passenger side lower front control arm. These were on the jeep when I bought it. I thought the lift kit was a Rubicon Express, but these don’t look like the arms on their website. Maybe there are an older version. There is a snap ring on one side and the other side is not...

    Smoking Multi-function Switch

I went out to do the final break in of my black magic brakes on my 2004 LJ this morning and noticed a funny smell and then smoke coming out around the hazard switch. I quickly ran for a wrench to disconnect the battery with visions of the it bursting into flame before I could return...

    Bestop sliders with steps

I picked up a pair of these because Morris 4x4 is selling them for $99 with free shipping and I need something to replace the factory step for some light off reading, not rock crawling. The latest versions don’t require any drilling, so I figure worst case I’m out $109 (CA Tax) minus what I can...

Help With Keys And Lock Cylinders

I re-keyed the full door lock cylinder from 2000 to work with the ignition key for a 2004 using information from another thread on the forum and the tumbler kit from ebay. It was surprising simple.

What is this top? I need one!

Does anyone know if Gr8Tops is still around? I haven’t been able to get anyone to answer the phone or reply to an email in the last couple of monthe’s. In my opinion the option to run the safari top and switch between soft and hard sides is the ideal top.

Random bracket in the back seat floor area

It’s more for wind and Sun, definitely does not seal up cab from rain as you end up with sizable gaps around the rollbar and doors.

Help With Keys And Lock Cylinders

Great, so it sounds like there are different size lock cylinders and they may need to be matched to the style of door or year, but that all keys in use from 97-06 can be made to work with all lock cylinders in use from 97-06. Thanks All.

Help With Keys And Lock Cylinders

Thanks for the reply Tom. Did you re-key your 97 half doors to work with your 2006 key, or replace the lock cylinders?

Random bracket in the back seat floor area

That’s exactly it. I installed that on mine years ago to basiclay make a soft top half cab In combination with a bikini top. The downside is the seats have to be pretty much at 90 degrees our you have to move them forward, and your sound bar is now outside of the cab.

Help With Keys And Lock Cylinders

Here is my current key & lock situation which is a mess, but I believe the Jeep was repossessed at one point in its history. I have one working aftermarket ignition key with SKIS/SKIM. I have a second aftermarket key cut for the ignition cylinder but it is not programmed to the car or is not a...

jscherb, is your TJ rack available anywhere? And thanks for all your excellent designs. i bought an exogate about 5 years ago and it is great. I recently picked up an LJ that came with a smittybilt XRC rear bumper and carrier and now I appreciate the simplicity, smoothness, and quietness of...

    Rear main seal

Getting the exhaust off sucks. Just did mine a couple of weeks ago and o bet the exhaust was 50% off the time. To make matters worse, I still have a leak; however, I think it is from the transmission because the fluid is very dirty. I would definitely try the high mileage oil first.

Rear rack setup with MORryde / Exogate

I don’t think jscherb’s tj rack ever made it to production. Morryde sells his jk one, but it’s not removable. https://www.morryde.com/products/overland-rack/

Is There A Tracker In My New Jeep?

I’m replacing the carpeting in my 2004 LJ and found the clear box. I looked it up by the FCC ID and found it was made be DEI holdings. I haven’t found a black box, but it must be behind the dash as all wires from the clear box run up behind the radio. Rick, I’m guessing you removed it based on...

Options for spun nutsert for transmission skid

Thank you Mr. Blaine, I was finally able to get it out after a number of attempts. The first picture shows an attempt that created about 40 ft lbs of resistance, which was still not enough. The second picture shows the one that worked, I wedged things in from all around it. I also think that...

Options for spun nutsert for transmission skid

I'm working on replacing my rear main seal on my 2004 LJ, but ran into a problem with auto transmission skid plate bolt. The bolt into the drivers side on the frame just spins, so trying to figure out options. Grind off bolt head and don't put the skid back on the drive shaft is hitting it...
