    I did it last winter and it still looks like it did the day I painted it. And I had the top down most of the summer in the sun.

    I did the same to my 2000 TJ and it was really easy and I enjoyed doing it. I used rustolium X2 paint after is sand it and primed all the parts. Fun project and happy with results. I did not remove the passengers side air bag. I masked it off and painted it in place.

    I had same problem when I installed lift kit and it was due to the lift. The shifter didn't have enough throw to stay in gear and would come out or grind when going in.
