    Sorry for the YJ question

A stock YJ was just over 3100 rpm on the highway with a 2.5L 5-speed. Don’t know why anyone would want less than that after regearing.

    Sorry for the YJ question

You should be going to 5.13 for 33’s. A 5-speed 4 cylinder YJ came with 205/75R15 and 4.11 gears. The nominal diameter for that size tire is 26.33”. In stock form: 70 mph - 3121 rpm 33” tire comes out to a nominal 31.5”, on average 70 mph: 4.88 - 3096 5.13 - 3255 So 4.88 will actually...

    Super 35 / CCE question

If I’m remembering right, @mrblaine designed the original Dana 35 c-clip eliminator for Superior. Then the other companies (Ten Factory, probably Alloy USA, Yukon, etc) copied that design. I believe it was all based on the SET10 standard which would mean you’d use the same seal and bearing that the...

    Super 35 / CCE question

He mentioned c-clip eliminator, which on a Dana 35 the old c-clip eliminator kits swapped the axle shafts to using a tapered roller bearing like shown above. The kit included bolt on adapters to install onto the end of the axle tube to make the adaptation. I believe the c-clip eliminator kits could...

    231 differences: TJ vs XJ

I see. Take some pics of the front side, or I can go try to find that thread and look, but a quick look would confirm mostly what it would fit. Like said earlier, in the later years it really just comes down to input length and not really anything else. Both XJ and TJ have double cardan front...

    231 differences: TJ vs XJ

Novak muddies the water up too much. They've been wrong a few times. Best to just avoid them for 231 input gear info. Clocking is done on the transmission, the transfer cases are not different in that regard.

    231 differences: TJ vs XJ

Is this a t-case torn apart that you're just reassembling to sell? Using a long input, if you have one, would work for the most buyers. I'd market it to TJ owners probably.

    231 differences: TJ vs XJ

I tried digging through the parts catalogs from 97-99 TJ and XJs but they were ultimately not very helpful. Some basics: All 90s and later AW4, all AX15, and all 30RH/32RH are 23-spline outputs. AX15 only required a short t-case input gear, but medium or long could be used 30RH/32RH...

Question about LED turn signal lights

Yeah, that doesn’t work. It’s misleading, but the LEDs being in the front sockets screws things up. The side markers depend on the front bulbs being true incandescent bulbs to work properly. The side marker bulbs get their ground through the front bulbs. If the front bulbs are LEDs, that no...

    Boots

I've had a pair of Thorogood 6 " Moc Toes for about a year and 4 months that have been great. They were a bit expensive at $250, but they're the first work boot to actually last me a reasonable amount of time. They were stiff for a couple weeks and they are super comfortable now. I've worn down...

    Help figuring out gear ratio

I would, needing to drive a few hours is not a problem. 3000 at 75 is nice. Have to remember there were autos that were more like 3300-3400 at 75 from the factory, and they were fine.

    Help figuring out gear ratio

I'd definitely second the idea to go with 4.88 in lieu of 4.56, if it were mine.

    Help figuring out gear ratio

Maybe broke one of the original axles and best they could find as a replacement was a set of 97 axles that were in 3.55. Or maybe they bought another Jeep, yours had 3.73 Dana 44 originally, they wanted to take that wth them and so to make it work they had to buy a set of axles, that once again...

    Help figuring out gear ratio

I only use rev/mile, always has been 100% accurate for me. And I determine that it’s correct by back calculating it based on GPS and known gear ratio to confirm. The calculated diameter based on GPS has always matched the calculated diameter calculated by rev/mile. As for changing with...

I skimmed real quick to see if you said GPS before I posted and didn’t see that. Missed it.

    Help figuring out gear ratio

Your tires are not actually 33”. Put in 31.5-32.0” and I bet it’ll be spot on. And you need to be using a gps app of some sort, not the dash speed reading just in case the dash is off.

    Diagnosis assist please

If it sounds like a bucket of rocks, that could be the normal NV3550 sound. If it sounds like chirping, probably worn TOB.
