Point of order. 44 shafts don't significantly change diameter at the outboard end of the splines. As described to the OP. and, going by the odds, he has a 35 with 3.07’s

“We” assumed, then described a typical 35 shaft failure that was then confirmed by the OP. There by confirming “our” assumption.

Doesn’t the added 2” of bumpstop negate the gains in travel below 4” of lift?

Let me guess, it broke at the outboard end of the splines, right where the diameter changes. Multitude of possible reasons that one failed. 27 spline shafts, even the stronger 1541 ones are susceptible to breaking. This is always a factor on larger than stock tires with a heavy throttle foot...

The only need for a truss on a 35 is to 4link it Housing flex is only an issue with a LP30 on 35’s doing front digs.
