    Upgrading the underhood light

I did a writeup of these lights in 2016. There are a bunch of photos, so maybe linking here would be helpful? I don't know. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/cool-under-hood-light.904/ I never moved up to the LED option; mine is fine as it is. And I have actually had to use it on a rainy...

How to clean your Jeep Wrangler TJ frame

Maybe, but it is not flexible, so it would be severely limited in what it could do. Also, the two arms look to be way too long to get inside the frame from the side holes. The U shape would need to be only like 2" long on one side to make the turn, and it looks like there is no jet head, so that...

How to clean your Jeep Wrangler TJ frame

Glad to oblige, folks. Keep on saving your valuable and increasingly rare TJ frames. Once they are gone they are gone!

How to clean your Jeep Wrangler TJ frame

In answer to one of the above questions (and any other regarding degreasing) we are not talking about sludge-like axle grease. Paint has a hard time adhering even to fingerprint oils. You degrease the metal to make the paint or primer not start coming loose on you after a few years. (Or days -...

How to clean your Jeep Wrangler TJ frame

Best of luck! Take the extra time to made a video or some photos so that others can see this with the older of the two frames. (They have some different openings.)

    Homemade Frame Rail Cleaner

My thread was less about *my idea* and more about figuring out *my problem* and then cobbling together tools that would effectively fix them. This was how I did that, and anyone here is free to copy the idea riff on and improve it, or cast it aside. I think your idea is just as valid if it...

How to clean your Jeep Wrangler TJ frame

Keep in mind that it cannot get in there if it is larger than the largest holes, UNLESS it is scaling metal, in which case it is already fragile due to heavy rust. I have a medium-weak magnet that has a hole cast in the center. I tied some stout twine with my good Boy Scouts knots that won't...

    Homemade Frame Rail Cleaner

The Clog Hog has four jets that point rearwards, which propels it along the frame rail under its own power. You have to hold on or it will shoot down the rail. It has one jet that points forwards.

How to clean your Jeep Wrangler TJ frame

Sorry for the late reply. I don't get to visit here much these days, unfortunately. I use the Clog Hog a few times a year and *one* a actually used it for its intended purpose. That bad boy unclogged my bathroom sink drainpipe like a champ. The blockage was my wife's long hair, Lemon Go-Jo and...

How to clean your Jeep Wrangler TJ frame

In case anyone here is reading this thread for the first time, here is one I did about the tools I came up with. I hope this stuff helps someone save a bundle on a future application of Saf-T-Caps or the huge project of a full-on frame swap. Both will fix TJ frame issues, but if yours is not...

    Homemade Frame Rail Cleaner

In case anyone here is just now reading this, I have another thread on the full procedure I made up that uses these repurposed tools. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/how-to-clean-your-jeep-wrangler-tj-frame.3249/#post-41576

    Homemade Frame Rail Cleaner

The key is to break up the crap coating the rail walls. That, in my case, took the coat hanger wire, the air and then the water. It was not thick or all that bad, but it was our fine river silt and some gravel and stones, and that fine river silt dries very hard. It was not hard to shatter and...

    Is this frame rust fixable?

Tag me when you post your results. I’d like to read about what all you do and your thoughts on improving or adjusting what I did. Good luck!

    Homemade Frame Rail Cleaner

It was never an either/or situation. They both were needed. The air blew out most of the lighter, looser gunk and drove a lot of gravel out the larger holes. Anything larger than pea gravel was too heavy, though. I started by breaking up caked stuff by ramming stuff wire down the rails. My...

Another "jeep dies while driving" thread

This happened to me two times. The first time I had to over-tighten the negative battery terminal. The second time I just got some new battery cables. Never had that happen since.

Anyone know what this wire is?

I have thought about getting one of those. Then I remembered that I have my mirror flipped over so I can see because I sit too tall in the seat. The fancy mirror cannot be raised up high enough, just like the stock one — and you cannot flip it over to gain visibility. So, nope.

How to clean your Jeep Wrangler TJ frame

Yeah, so I posted this over a year ago and then shortly thereafter disappeared from the forum. I am not dead. ;-) I am a musician and have been *very* busy rebuilding one of my expensive tubas for work. This turned into a nightmare of engineering screwups and construction nightmares caused by...

    Tire Flat Spotting?

Nah, these have been sitting in my carport for three years. No dry rot. They were darn near new when I started into my build. And that was put on longterm hold. I suppose I have to replace them with nearly no miles on them. What a waste of a grand. Oh, well.

    Tire Flat Spotting?

So how long do tires last when the vehicle is not moved or even started for an extended period? I think my BFGs are toast, man! :-)
