What goes here? NV 3550 opening near top of Trans bellhousing above clutch slave.

Prepping to poke engine and trans back into TJ. Cant picture in my mind what went here to look for it in my stash. Nor can find images on the net since got no clue the words to search with bolt sizes / thread pitch? If I don't wait ... how hard is it to get too after installing Trans... am...

NP242 swap into TJ: "shift linkage" mods needed (using cable system)

some good other threads on installing a NP242 yet they are long and contain lot of info.... enough to get convoluted.... thus starting thread specific to the linkage (aimed toward cable style) Here is the best so far that have been able to find about mods using a cable designed for 231 & 242...

    What grille is this?

99.99999% of the time I really frown on the stupid ABS plastic grill covers.... but honestly this one looks interesting. Kinda European old Rover lookish?

Clutch master / slave kit and 100 dollar differences

Did a search..... not quit finding info needed. From reading it seems to come out to..... one sign your clutch master and/or slave is bad is in extreme cold with your clutch pedal in your clutch itself ends up still on the flywheel. That is what I have. Ive noticed what might be similar in...

Testing column multi function switch (MFS) via continuity

in the chart shown in attached image..... it says for exterior lighting "head lights" both low and high ... for testing, you should check continuity between two different sets of pins. My question is why the two sets? asking cause if one set works..... and one set does not..... what does...

RV Flat Pulling a TJ with super 35 rear axle upgrade?

One reason RV-rs like TJ's is they flat tow real well. Im in that boat (though RV is a poo mans overland camper) Does the Super 35 upgrade change its tow nature at all? Seems to me it would not.... but I hate to assume thus why asking.

Cage question with half hard top

hmmm... now if could widen the rear part..... it might be worth drilling holes thru the top. example fab a platform that sits just below tub height with a plate on top to weld too and bolts to where OEM rear bar mounts in the corner.... thus allowing the rear bars to be more outboard like...

Cage question with half hard top

that is what am running now. They suck. Biggest issue though is the OEM rear bar set up takes up to about 10" out of the usable width of rear tub at tailgate end.

Cage question with half hard top

catch 22..... hit the corner at grill end yes. makes since... also that is a pivot point wanting to push windshield to inward.. which Im not fond off lol... yet if forward triangulation bar was bent downward in a misshap it would pull top of windshield frame (A pillar) forward would think not...

Cage question with half hard top

do see now though that in this YJ drawing the rear bars where they attach to hoop would be more outboard than the TJ's are. This is what really eats up space for rear deck. takes almost 6" of width out. Not sure you can get that out board of a fitment with the hard top though..... hmmm.....

Cage question with half hard top

if I drill thru the top; will do like as you propose or just keep OEM rear bar like set up; which is what Gr8 does now. They sell a sealing grommet to accommodate.... An idea Ive not fully discounted. Really want to keep the rear deck area free though beside rack to tie things down too.

Pointing out things with a little science/physics.... mucho appreciate it. Kick Stand- Transfer energy?? Can you elaborate more please? You speaking of energy from a mishap.. or energy (vibrations) of daily driving orr? Though honestly liking better B to A idea. In Orange cab I suspect the...

moderator- Is there a better forum for this discussion? PS- presently leaning toward something like the chevy truck pic...... forward from B-pillar to the floor board.... not sure there is room though

Cage question with half hard top

couple questions on this plan. using hard half top on TJ that is a classic CJ8 top so I would NOT want to drill hole in it for rear half family cage to go thru it. Cant afford a GR8 Top. Besides... the long rear deck idea does not work as well with rear half of roll bar anyway. well...

TJ 5-speed feels like it’s not really in neutral

well the answer may not be related to any of the the above. Shop found the rear upper control arm broken (I live in the rust belt) and the front axle seems fine. Not sure how that made the front sound like it was clicking...... or it is unrelated.... and just has to be fixed first. grrrrrr...
