Your opinion: Condition of 2004 Jeep Wrangler

Yeah for $17k I’d stay away personally. Especially considering the drive.

Your opinion: Condition of 2004 Jeep Wrangler

In my experience you practically never see rusty Jeeps around town. Obviously they will rust if you frequent the beaches but generally they hold up well. Any idea what part of Houston it’s from? Two things that are a concern for me is the fishing rod holder on the front grill tells me it’s...

    Swapping a Dana 30 for a Dana 44

Same here. Swapping to a HP30 was very cheap considering I got the housing for $110 from a 96 XJ. Plus the high pinion kept me from having to get a new custom length front driveshaft.

    Imahnu's Overland Camper

As long as you keep the heavy stuff out of the cargo area and centered well on the trailer it handles pretty well. Maybe squat 1-2”. I’ve pulled about 2500-3000lbs with the trailer itself and it’s not so bad. Just a little underpowered but part of that is being under geared with 4.88s. 5.13s or...

    Imahnu's Overland Camper

Hello all! I built this trailer a few years back before I knew there was this thread here so I’m gonna put my build all in here now. I wanted to start a build of a roughly 4x6 trailer that could be pulled behind my Jeep for extended camping trips. Obviously with a TJ that doesn’t have ABS or...

In which we discuss knurled ball joints

I did this exact process off of @mrblaine recommendation when I was building my HP30. I had one side with enough space that the ball joint could easily drop in halfway and then barely had to be pressed the other half. Dimpling them and the 609 loctite has held up over the last year with zero...

Am I the only one who thinks a snorkel on a TJ is crazy?

This is the only real reason I’ve experienced for having a snorkel/relocated air intake. The depth isn’t really ever the issue, the angle of entrance in the creek/river crossings are the main issue. That being said most of my off-roading is in areas with lots of water crossings where some can...

Drive 65 mph without rear driveshaft?

Yes you can run without a rear driveshaft without issue. I’ve had to do this a few times and never ran into any problems.

    Inner Frame Rail Cleaning

Just came across this interesting tool. Nothing crazy but could make cleaning the inner frame rails a little easier. Doesn’t allow for something you can’t do without it but does make it easier which might make people clean their frame rails more often? $80 does seem a little high to me...

    Dana 44 with 5.89s

Hello all! Anyone run front and rear Dana 44s with 5.89 gears? RGA makes some 5.89s that work with non rubicon locker LP 44s. Thought is to use the 5.89s with my 4.0L with 42RLE and 35s as many say 5.38s isn’t quite enough for the 35s. Another concern I have is that the driveshaft speed...

    Rubicon Shafts in Dana 30

Anyone know if you can run rubicon axle shafts (Dana 44) in a Dana 30 assuming you have a 30 spline carrier? Is there anything that would keep that from working? Thanks for your time!

    Engine Replacement Cost - 08 Tundra 5.7L

Hello All, My good friend had his head gasket blow. His truck is at a shop now and he just got a quote to replace the engine. He was having cooling issues where his coolant would boil up and bubble out of his overflow for the last few weeks. He didn't realize this is what was happening and...

Texas List of members that live in Texas

I’ve been there over half a dozen times and went to the university out in Alpine, TX for a short time so I explored around there quite a bit. There aren’t many places dedicated to off-roading in the normal sense, but most trails that require high clearance or 4x4 are hours long and have sections...

Question regarding expected issues with a 4.5 inch lift

You’re correct! I was able to find a stock rubicon shaft and it has a single joint on each end. In that case, @Don Bulee you need you need to get the DC installed and get the pinion readjusted afterwards

Question regarding expected issues with a 4.5 inch lift

Doesn’t he have a rubicon? I could be mistaken but wouldn’t he already have a DC driveshaft and he just needs to swap in the longer one? I could be mistaken though.

Question regarding expected issues with a 4.5 inch lift

Yeah if the pinion is at 0 degrees meaning flat with the ground then you’ll definitely have an issue and need to get that rolled up to point directly at the TC output. A MML lift will help with vibes once that happens.

Where can I get a tail pipe exhaust hanger?

There will likely be some on eBay with the rubber isolator with it.

Question regarding expected issues with a 4.5 inch lift

Do you have a TT? Swapping the DC driveshaft could help but the mml should help for sure. How’d you adjust the pinion angle?

What are the best options for an aftermarket track bar?

JKS and Currie will be the most recommended. If you want to go a cheaper route you could use a RC track bar and replace the rubber bushings. A few of us have had good luck with that. I ram that for 4 years without issues before switching to jks

    Lift Kit Recommendation

Without knowing your future plans for the Jeep long term, the best I could recommend installing a body lift and small spacer lift. A .75” spacer and 1.25” BL would give you the 2” your looking for for the absolute lowest cost. If you go 2” suspension then there’s a chance you may need to modify...
