    Fuel Pump Failing?

Took a thirty minute trip last weekend to meet a buddy. About an hour and a half later we parted ways. My 97 SE fired right up made it about 300’ and started bucking, surging, and then died. I had it towed back to the house, and it started right up so I could put it in the garage. I’m fairly...

    1997 Fuel Tank Cracked

I shopped around on Facebook Marketplace until I found a tank and skid plate for $100. As my 97SE was missing most of the bolts I went ahead and replaced all of them. It seems daunting but it’s not as horrible as it looks. I took pictures during the process and replaced all the bolts with...

Thanks for that bit if info. I bookmarked his site for later. Buying a spare PCM is on my list of things to stock up on.

    I-6 coming back to Jeep!

My purchase of a TJ was driven by the desire to have something that was more mechanical than electronic that I could mostly work on myself. I've never been much of a car guy and most of my shade tree mechanic-ing has been limited to oil changes, brakes, batteries, and the occasional alternator...

    I-6 coming back to Jeep!

My dad had a 1981 Blazer his company gave him as a work truck. He had the transmission replaced three times in 60k miles, 90% of that was Highway driving. I had a 91 1500 with a 700R4 that I had rebuilt four times in five years. Even our TJs have constant problems and pets failures. We had a...

    I-6 coming back to Jeep!

My new to me work truck has a 3.5L twin turbo Ecoboost. It is a lot more responsive than the 5.7L HEMI in my Ram. It ha just over 111k on it and as of right now it runs great.

How to wire a house receptacle

I’d have to see a picture. FWIW if I’m using old work or cut in boxes I go as deep as the wall will accept. I like to have plenty of room.

How to wire a house receptacle

That’s a pretty good “rule-of-thumb”, no pun intended. Code requires a minimum of 6” from the face of the box. You can certainly add to that and fold your wires in neatly. The big thing is to be able to have the device and the wire in the box with no pressure on the 6-32 screws that hold the...

Anyone have any experience with Baofeng BF-F8HP

I’ve really had to force myself to think things through. I think what’s helping me is I started a new job just after recovering and I’m not in the same position, so I can’t coast my way through doing the same old things. I hope you’re recovering well. It’s really frustrating at times.

I still have my moments. I have a hard time remembering names and and details like job costs. I have to keep notes, lots of notes. I’ll lose track of things I normally don’t have an issue remembering. It makes for some awkward moments during casual conversations.

Completely off topic but I had a pretty hefty case of brain fog after the Covid as well.

How to wire a house receptacle

I agree that’s nob and tube was excellent for the original design intent. I also agree that homeowners that thought they knew what they were doing made the system unsafe. That’s why we’ve had so many code revisions and certain materials are no longer acceptable to use. One of the biggest cause...

How to wire a house receptacle

Do you still use crimp sleeves and wrap caps? I heard that was all the rage 45 year ago. :) That was about the same time that Al wire was being used for branch circuits in houses too. ;) Did y’all even have cut-in boxes back then? I’m yanking your chain a bit. The trade is constantly...

How to wire a house receptacle

I’ve been an electrican for 25 years and licensed since 2007. Wrapping receptacles in cut in boxes is hardly a sign of amateur work. That’s a sign of someone who understands the trade enough to put a little extra time and effort to install a better product.

    Wheeler’s project that he didn’t want…

So rather than reduce weight at the rear I decided to add 100 pounds to it. I’ll eventually add one of the receiver hitch carriers for carrying things on top of the box. The plywood is a short term solution to cut down on rattling, even though the box is bolted down. Once I get around to...
