Jeep seems to be running below operating temp in cold weather

On the 01 TJ (4.0/5-speed) I have that I took to my camp, I noticed that this weekend it seemed to take a long time to come up to close to operating temp and really didn’t seem like it was running as warm as it typically would (maybe around 200 on the gauge). It seems like the thermostat is...

Leaking water below windshield and into floorboard

I have been chasing rain leaks on a 2001 I picked up a while back. I thought I had successfully fixed the drivers side leak that was accumulating in the floor mat. After some water tests and tracing water, it appeared I was having an issue with the windshield to cowling seal. I went through the...

    JLU seats in a TJ

I have seen some threads where some people have put JK seats in TJs as replacement options. Had anyone done (or seen info on) JLU seats being put into a TJ? First will they fit in the space and second, how much bracket modification?

Need help finding inside windshield molding

I wasn’t paying attention when taking down my windshield to replace the windshield/cowling seal and didn’t remove the plastic molding trim pieces on both sides of the windshield (run from the top corner of windshield to bottom). They slightly overlap the roll bar pieces that attach to the...

    Lost coolant overflow cap

Was checking under hood earlier and noticed that I had lost my coolant overflow cap and the old yellow label around the neck of bottle. I know it was on a couple days ago (pic below for reference). Granted the cap was old and brittle and was also broken apart from the yellow plastic ring that...

What's a good hardtop hoist DIY frame?

My thought was that using the strap through the front door corner and rear window opening allowed me to back into garage, hook up the straps to the spreader bar by myself and raise it and then reverse the process solo and go back down directly onto the Jeep. I have a wood frame to set the top...

What's a good hardtop hoist DIY frame?

Thanks. I used to mess around with a lot of CJs years ago and ran across that one and bought it to keep. It’s an 85 Spring Special package and was bone stock with 27k miles when I got it. It mostly stays in the garage and only has 31k miles. I did put a 2” lift, some wheels and 32” tires, and...

What's a good hardtop hoist DIY frame?

Can you drill a hole through the bottom of the center T fitting and put an eye bolt through it (see example in pic). I also put some pipe insulation on my pipe and over the bottom of the eye bolt so I could let it rest in the top while hooking it up and not scratch up the top.

What's a good hardtop hoist DIY frame?

I used prethreaded pipe from Lowe’s in the already precut lengths. But I think it’s bigger than 1/2”. Not saying that 1/2” won’t work but just not sure.

What's a good hardtop hoist DIY frame?

If you zoom in on my first picture, you can see the two pulleys I used.

What's a good hardtop hoist DIY frame?

Yes, the frame was originally set up for a CJ hard top. I lengthened the center pipe to accommodate my LJ hard top and had to try two holes to find the correct balancing spot for the eye bolt so the hard top wouldn't tilt much while suspended (I still had to add a zip lock bag of old lug nuts to...

What's a good hardtop hoist DIY frame?

Mine is threaded galvanized pipe put together in the shape of an “H”. I attach heavy ratchet straps that run through door opening to rear window opening and connect to the 4 ends of the H. Hard to really see a lot from the pic I have though

    LJ hardtop opinions wanted

For what it’s worth; don’t be surprised if you get a factory top and still have some sort of leak(s). I have had several TJs with factory hard tops (factory top purchased second hand and put on Jeep) and I have an LJ with the factory top that came on it. Haven’t had any of them not leak in some...

SEM Trim or Rust Tough to paint for a bumper?

I have been using the SEM trim paint on stuff on the current TJ I’m working on. I think it’s got a good finish color for lots of items like bumpers/trim/etc. I have done my hard top and front frame cover with it so far. I have currently have color matched flares but May swap those out with some...

Difference between windshield to cowl seals between years?

As I’m researching leaks and potential seal replacements, I noticed a dofference in the ends of the windshield to cowl seal between my 2001 TJ and 2006 LJ. In looking at replacement seals, they are all listed for 97-06 models. The pic below shows the difference I’m talking about (the mildewed...

Help with rain leak coming in from doors

I will also check the header seal. I did inspect the passenger door fitment when I installed a new door seal the other day. It looks OK and of course the door closes super tight now with the new seal. The passenger side seems to have water that gets onto this flat section of the door threshold...

Help with rain leak coming in from doors

I’ve been working on various fix ups on my recently acquired TJ. I have had 7 or 8 of these over the years (still have an LJ now) so I have worked on various rain leaks in the past. But it’s always a struggle it seems. My current TJ leaks rain on both door openings. The passenger side looked to...

    Mod Hesitant

Possibly a winch also if you are going to be using it off-road where you may get stuck somehow. The winch also has other uses as well and can mount directly to a stock set up with only a low cost winch plate mounted to the existing bolts at/behind the front bumper. You can also squeeze 31”...
