Im looking to make some rust repairs on frame rails. To get additional clearance I was thinking of placing a 3/4' board on a block (where the holes would not be visible) and putting the jack stands on the block. Does this seem to be a safe method to gain some extra clearance ? Thanks

Hello All, I will be replacing the rear axle bearings on my Dana 35 for my 1998 Wrangler TJ with 168 K mi. I plan on heating the hub slightly with a propane torch to ease the bearing removal job. Does anyone not recommend this procedure for any reason ? Thanks much, Pocojo

Thanks greatly for your response and I really understand your method but what scares me is that in my shop manual it states "do not jack up the Jeep from the axle tubes". i know you can get away with it using your method of lifting but I'm 73 and want to lift the whole thing up at one time...
