I did CO once before from FL in my JK, but you are right, it did not seem to have that 'Jeep Thing", and I went back to a TJ. I drove to CO numerous times in a TJ when I lived in Wis., but that is a lot closer, and the TJ was a lot newer.
I am (gasp) thinking of trading in my TJ. I love it, but I have a long drive (FL to CO) for wheeling, and I am just not comfortable making the drive in a 14 year old vehicle.
I have 2 questions about JLs.
1. Is the 6cyl or 4 cyl turo better?
2. Is the limited slip rear differential any help off...
I want to remove my hardtop when I get to where I'm going offroading, but I would like to have a bikini top. I do not want to have to carry a header bar along. Any Idea's? I remember my YJ just had a channel on the windshield, so no header needed. I don't think a YJ channel would work on a TJ...
My favorite is bikini top and no doors.
My soft top gave up the ghost, so i bought a used hardtop. I will install a lift in my garage to take it off.
NO MORE ZIPPERS!!!!!
2006 TJ. I had a new small (1 DIN?) radio installed. After the install, the fan switch did not work on the 2 lower speeds. The 2 upper speeds work fine.
The installer said nothing he did could affect the fan switch. It's in a separate module from the radio. It must be "coincidence".
Does this...
I am a little confused. Most of the units I am looking at are Double Din, which requires a new dash panel.
Is this smaller than a double DIN, so it fits the original dash?
It was a fun jamboree. Not as challenging as some others, but it was great for Florida.
I don't understand about the shocks. When I bought the jeep it had the spacers and longer shocks.
Just the stock springs with a 2.5in spacer lift. They said you could buy some kind of retainer clip, but the trail guide said it was just a one in a million chance it came out.
I lost a spring while going through a hole at the Snowbird Jeep Jamboree in Florida. I was impressed with the trail guides (red shirts) who had me back up back over the hole, which droped the tire. They then lifted the jeep with a hi jack, and stuck it back in. better then calling AAA. on Jamboree
I called BestTop, and they did not sell zippers, but gave me the name of the company they buy from. Don't remember name now. Bought zipper, and local marine top shop sewed it in for 90.00. Yes, had to remove top.

Here is a link from another thread. I have not purchased anything. I did talk on the phone once and they seem very knowledgeable.
