    Help identifying soft top hardware

Those are the roll bar brackets holding the rear and front together, all you need is the Allen/torx bolts. You also need the cloth web that positions the rear top “stretcher” bar. It’s very similar to my Bestop frame but not exactly because I have that front flip thingy and I also don’t know...

Anyone use the Power Stop brake kit?

The local sourcing of the parts was a central attraction but if yours are squeaky that’s a negative for me. And I did like the thought that the included new rotors weren’t much more than a pair of factory calipers. Thanks for answering the question.

Anyone use the Power Stop brake kit?

I have a sticky caliper on the passenger side of my 98 TJ that’s needing repair, it only crops up when I go for a trip of 50-60 miles and I’ve just quit driving the Jeep this winter because I question the reliability in sketchy weather. I’ve been looking for repair kits on the internet and I can...

Should front wheels move when in 2WD and neutral when jacked up?

That reads like an automatic that has a driver side caliper hanging up or misaligned.

Cars you shouldn't own (according to the internet)

Every day that I drove by my neighbor's house and saw the burned out hulk in what was left of his carport I thought about how thankful they must’ve been that it wasn’t an attached, enclosed garage. Sometime after he got home from work it burst into flame all on its own.

Occasional crackling noises from dash speakers

It’ll be the thick black single line running across the back of the glove box to the head unit. Could be corrosion on that end as well causing spotty contact with the antenna.

Occasional crackling noises from dash speakers

Undo the hex nut on the base of the whip and look for corrosion would be my first choice, then I’d look behind the glove box and insure the lead is making a decent connection with the head unit. I don’t think you can get to the body mount without some gymnastic wrenching.

Occasional crackling noises from dash speakers

Are you saying it only crackles using the radio? Because I’d check that antenna mount if it’s just the radio drifting.

    Mid Size Trucks

I don’t know how far that Chevy went after I sold it but it was a good runner when it left.

    Mid Size Trucks

I liked our 98 S-10 a lot more than our 2012 Tacoma which seemed bloated for a small pickup. That S-10 went 225,000 miles and required precious little maintenance other than fluid changes. I’m just not keen on the upsizing of trucks this century as I like to be able to see into the bed from...

Is their anyone out there that plan to leave their Jeep stock?

Me. Well, I downsized the tires and changed the sender gear plus a JVC stereo unit and speakers but the remainder of our Jeep will continue as stock-ish. I have no need to fix something that isn’t broken but our intended use isn’t rock climbing. I've been thinking about new milk jugs, tho...

How many of you outdoor cook with a Traeger? If not what is your BBQ rig of choice?

The Traeger cooks the best spatchcock chicken and it’s only lightly smoked due to the high temp. Makes for a nice variety with the heavily smoked briskets, bacon and pastrami.

How many of you outdoor cook with a Traeger? If not what is your BBQ rig of choice?

No, we get a whole brisket at the butcher counter and have him cut off the fatty tip (about a third of the slab). Then it pickles for 5-7 days in the fridge, sits washed off and dried in the open still in the fridge for another day. Then in the smoker to 160°, Texas crutch wrap with foil and...

How many of you outdoor cook with a Traeger? If not what is your BBQ rig of choice?

You’re really going to enjoy it. After it rests we chill it so it can be sliced really thin, then it’s on to Rueben and Rachel‘s on ciabatta with potato salad and a nice pickle.

Random photos: Got anything interesting, unique, strange?

It’s time to consider replacing that hot water tank with an on demand system. That’s been the golden item of our reconstruction and the one thing that is regret free.

Looking for heavy rubber floor mats and sound dampening material

I’ve got them in our cars and all of the weather tech stuff stays flexible. It’s not super thick so at best it’s just going to replicate having the carpet for noise abatement but the cleaning aspect is superior.

    Soft top frame screw stripped

I’d be tempted to mix a few drops of acetone with few drops atf and dab that on the threads, let it sit for thirty and give it a go with a brand new torx bit. Or brutally drive a square shank SAE driver in and use a wrench as leverage.
