    Thoughts on Detroit Tru Trac?

Anybody running Tru Tracs on both ends? Seems to be a good idea for me. Daily driver that goes off road rarely. Selectables are not in the budget, lunchboxes can get scary on road. Dana 30/35 will have chromoly at least in the rear. Thanks.

    CB or VHF?

Cost and performance. Which is better? I have zero experience with either one.

    Hi / low beams switched

04TJ I've had for over a year. My "high beam" dash light comes on when my low beams are on. Is it as simple as rotating my bulbs 180 degrees? They appear to be factory lights.

    New Falken Wildpeak M/Ts

Falken Wildpeak MT's. Heard a lot of good things about the AT's, but I'm just an MT kinda guy. So far I love'em, but only 300 miles all on pavement. Maybe tomorrow or Monday I'll get to try them in the snow!! It'll be at least a month before I get to try them off-road...unless I hit the lottery.

    Where does the oil go?

Just finished my 3rd oil change on my 04 TJ. Every time I've only gotten 5 quarts, or a little less, of dirty oil out of the engine. I keep a check on the oil level and I add a total of about a quart between changes. I know a little stays in the filter, but where is the rest?

    Drop pitman arm?

Been looking at other posts on this subject but hard for me to tell. Is this the dreaded pitman arm I need to replace with the OEM?

    Problems with Armor All?

I've used Armor All for years with nary a problem. Lately, though, I've heard several people saying it makes tires, dashes, etc dry rot faster than normal. What say ye? Any alternatives?

    Just for fun

My job is extremely boring on weekends, so I decided to count Jeeps on the hwy about 1/4 mile or so from our guard shack. I know we missed some and I know some of them came by more than once, so this is not in the least "scientific". Here we go.... Black-57 White-23 Red-23 Blue-10 Others-51...

How many miles do you get before your low fuel light comes on?

This is mainly for DD as off-roading uses more fuel. After a fill-up, how many miles do you get before your low fuel light comes on? Mine is usually around 240. Takes +/- 15 gallons to top off. 4.0, 5 spd, 33" tires 3.07 gears.

    Are chromoly axles enough?

4.0, 6 speed, 33" tires, Dana 30/35. As soon as the money hits my hand I'm upgrading to 4.56's. Will chromoly axles be enough of an upgrade for a %99 daily driver and an occasional off road on easy trails? Probably lock the rear. I know a 44 would be better, but trying to keep on a tight budget. I...

    Smittybilt bumper did good!

Ok, so my Smittybilt side bars rusted through and are waiting for replacements. My SB rear bumper, however, just took a pretty good whack from a VW Passat and came through with just a few scratches. I'm impressed!

    Carr steps

My smittybilt side bars are toast. Anybody use the Carr steps? They're not for protection, just a step. I could do without any steps but my wife and grandson need them.

    Arithmetic

Just using round numbers for simplicity, if you have a 3/1 r&p and your tach is at 2000 @60 mph, if you change to 4.5/1 r&p would your tach read 3000 @60 mph? Does 50% more gear transfer directly to 50% more rpm with all other things being equal?

    Spartan vs TruTrac

As I see it, the locker has the edge offroad, but for a daily driver wouldn't the occasional 'bang' be a bad thing on a wet road? I had a Chevy truck with a Lockright that would rattle my teeth when it 'jumped a tooth'..for lack of a better term. Short wb Wrangler with 12.50 tires might be a...

    Better than OEM?

Other than obvious stuff (tires, headlights, suspension) what aftermarket parts (starters, alternators, fuel pumps, etc) are better than OEM? I know it could be a big list so just mention 'important' stuff. Thanks .

    Well, how bout that!!

Ok, I've been trying to sell my motersickle to have money to upgrade my TJ. At a Jeep graveyard today I made a deal with the owner....I give him my Valkyrie and he puts me in Rubicon axles front and rear..including lockers!! I get everything done at once! Life is GOOD!!

    Seen any YJs lately?

I passed a YJ yesterday and it dawned on me that it was the first one I had seen in a long time. A guy at work is rebuilding one and that's the only one I know of here in ne TN. Do you see many/any where you are? (Don't count if you HAVE one!!)

    Got gas?

Is there any reason to use midgrade or premium? My 98 Valkyrie was designed for 87 octane, using anything else is a waste of money. Same for TJ's?
