    Shifter bezel retention

I replaced the boot on the shifter today, and along with that project, I attempted to get the plastic bezel to stop popping out. I replaced the little spring clips that hold it in place to no avail… the damned thing just won’t stay and flops all around. Before I get creative with the adhesive...

Anyone got a lead on a Mopar heater core?

The latest in what appears to be a one by one replacement of the cooling system on this Jeep is that my heater core just puked all over the passenger floorboard. I swapped this thing out about 2 yrs ago using One of the handful of options on Amazon. This go-round I'd prefer to use MOPAR, but...

Question for anyone with a Procomp Rock Crawler bumper w/receiver

There used to be a tag on mine with what weight it could handle for accessories (NOT towing) My tag has disappeared, but I want to say it was either 250 or 350. Basically, I need to get a dirt bike home from about 50 miles away. I've got access to a hitch rack, but can't recall what the hitch...

    Upgrading a basic utility trailer

For those that know more about trailers than me (and if you know more than that trailers exist and that people buy them, that probably includes you), I curious what it would take to run JK pattern wheels on one of the basic utility trailers you can get from any hardware store. All I'm looking...

    Stand Up Paddleboards

Anyone in to stand up paddle boards? I see guys on the lakes and calmer rivers around here all the time and it looks fun. Want to pick some brains before I jump in though.

    Clearing CEL by disconnecting battery

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills over here- I'm in the midst of trying to address the ever-so-fun quadruple O2 sensor code issue (032,038,052,058) I had some exhaust leaks welded up over the weekend, so I wanted to clear the CEL and see if they come back. So, I disconnected the battery for...

    Responsible Pet Ownership

So, I and a couple of friends and acquaintances were talking about pet ownership the other day. I mentioned that the lady that sold us her house about 8 yrs ago said she was doing so to help pay for her dog's chemotherapy. This seemed preposterous to me. Yet, come to find out, I was in the...

Here's hoping the Bronco puts pressure on Jeep

So I've been traveling a bunch and as such I've been having to rent vehicles. Week 1 I had a Dodge Ram. It was pretty nice for a truck. Comfortable, rode well, and had a bunch of creature comforts that actually lead me to just price them out. Not terrible in terms of price. This was my baseline...

Planning for the future (motor swap budget)

Just curious what I will (inevitably) be looking at when the motor goes on my LJ. I'm pushing up against 250k, so it will come eventually. If you've done it, how much does it cost soup to nuts to do a motor swap to either another 4.0L or something else (4bt, LS, etc). how long did it take to...

A bunch of codes with no obvious issues

So all the sudden, my LJ is... grouchy. Codes: 0032 0031 0038 0037 0052 0051 0058 0057 All of these are O2 sensor codes. Now, I suspect that something else is causing it as all the O2's going bad all the sudden seems unlikely. I can't hear any obvious exhaust leaks, and the cats are newish-...

    Tire shop shenanigans

So, I picked up a set of tires about 2 months ago. Cooper Evolution MT's Couldnt be happier with them. Bought them from Discount Tire. Yesterday morning, I notice a pretty decent size screw in the tread and the tire is losing air. So I call Discount, they can't get me in till this morning...

    Clickety Clackety Steering Column

Anyone have a good diagram on how to get to whatever the hell is clicking inside my steering column? It's not the u-joint on the shaft further back, Whatever it is is RIGHT behind the airbag and has been driving me bonkers for months. Video of irritating clicking...

Why isn't Teraflex as big in the TJ community?

So, Teraflex put up an hour long YouTube video a few days ago about their history. I had it on when I was doing some stuff around the garage, and got me thinking that years ago, it seemed like they were everywhere. But it occurred to me that I never really hear their name come up around here...

Tap in to switched power for aux fuse block

I plan on adding a fuse block to clean up some of the "creative" wiring I have done over the years. What is the best, simple way to get ignition-hot power to an aux fuse block? Power demand would be minimal- some relays, a couple USB outlets, and probably the CB.

    Swag Off-Road Drop Down Tailgate

Anyone installed SWAG‘s drop down tailgate? I use my LJ as a mini pickup most of the time. curious if anyone has any opinions on it. Looking at the “flat back” version to cover up previous indiscriminate drilling.

    Grinding at full turn

I'm getting a grinding noise at full turn to the left. Only happens when the wheels are turning. it's not tire rub it's not wheel bearings (they're new on both sides. the only thing I can think of is the U-joints in the steering knuckles, but I don't have any idea how to check them. any ideas?

    Cooper Evolution M/T Tires

Has anyone laid eyes on these tires in real life? Apparently they first came out at SEMA last year. Discount Tire currently has them listed at ~160 per for 35's. not sure I want an MT, but at that price? I think I could make do.

    Reconnecting steering shafts

Alright- so the heater core swap is nearly done- trying to reconnect the steering shaft. It's almost like one end or the other has reacted to the drop in temps like George Castanza- with the steering column nuts loosely mounted, it's like the shaft needs to be ~1/2" longer to engage. Is one or...

    Heater core help

I'm nearly through disassembling this thing to get the Hvac system out, but something in the area directly behind the block is stopping me from pulling the whole housing. we've got all 5 of the mounting nuts off, all hoses disconnected, and it feels like there's one more, but I can't find it...
