    Ferrocerium & slow match

I'm old, cheap, and I hate things that don't work. One of the things that I've struggled with for more than 50 years is getting a fire lit in the backwoods anywhere and under all conditions. Rain, wind, snow, ice, all the things that can make getting a fire going problematic can be addressed...

    Don't, just don't

Don't drive in the creeks and rivers in Oregon. It's against the law. We will hunt you down. https://katu.com/news/local/oregon-state-police-seeking-public-assistance-with-suspect-identification-in-jackson-county

    TJ SE's

Hey @ChatGPT , is the SE version of the Wrangller TJ a waste of natural resources and offensive to offroading in general?

    Boondocking security

There is an ongoing discussion on another forum about security in the backwoods. I thought that I would start a thread here to ask a serious question. Has anyone experienced a security threat while camping off the grid / boondocking / out in the puckerbrush? I have to say that in 50+ years...

    Full timing / Airstream

Here ya go, @Wildman 1) Packing up the house and downsizing. Wow, ya, that's a thing... We went from 2400 square feet to 1400 square feet, to a 19' Airstream. Now we're back to a 27' Airstream. It was a thing that involved a dumpster and three storage units at on point. It's tough. I finally...

    I'm back, sort of...

Hello to all my friends here at the TJ forum. I feel kind of egocentric writing this, but I also feel that I owe some kind of explanation as to my absence after this length of time. Where to start? In 2019 the mother-in-law started having increasing difficulties living on her own. Her dementia...

Well known vendor question (Savvy wait times)

Anyone know what's up with Savvy Off Road? Ordered a front bumper, fairlead mount and winch hoop 5 or 6 weeks ago. They happily took my money. So far, no communication unless I call them, and no parts. No straight answers on when I'll get the parts. Called today, no answer. Sent an e-mail, no...

    Spanish Mauser carbine

Traded into a Spanish Mauser carbine in 308 (arsenal conversion) with a guy at work. Cute little thing. It's a 1893 pattern, model 1913 or 1916. Most probably an M1913. Very simple design. Cock on close, no safety lug, etc, etc. The wood is good for being over 100 years old. It has feeding...

    A Suburban on the Rubicon

While contemplating my front lawn this morning, it needs mowing, I looked at my '99 Suburban and wondered "What would it take to herd that thing over the Rubicon? ". Just for fun, what'cha all think? It's a huge, heavy beast with horrible break-over angles and the articulation on a geriatric...

    Drip of the month club

Well, after 120,000 miles of trouble free and sometimes hard wheeling, Blue has finally decided to join the Drip of the Month club. Power steering pressure sensor, probably water pump, and some indeterminate drip from the back of the skid plate area. All very minor, but annoying. At least I...

OX locker differential cover size / clearance

For informational purposes only. How much bigger / thicker is the OX locker dif cover than stock? I'm mostly interested in any reduction in clearance between various suspension bits and the cover. Do they stick out a half inch more? Two inches? Same size? Thank you in advance.

    Torque Pro app

So, Blue's OBD2 bluetooth adapter arrived, and Torque Pro is installed on the navigation tablet. Everything is paired and running. No codes. Now what? What else will this do, and how do you use it on your TJ? What's your setup? GPS or no GPS? Do you do data logging? Tool or toy? Inquiring...

    Airing down discussion

Must be bored now that the rain has set in for real. What PSI do you-all run when you air down? I have 31x10.50R15's on 7" wide wheels. The TJ weighs from 3,300 to 4,300 pounds depending on loadout. So, aired up, it's 26 to 30 psi depending on my mood, motivation and the load. Aired down, I...

Savvy control arm question, minimum length

Quick technical question on Savvy control arms. What is the minimum length that Savvy control arms can be adjusted to? Center to center. Didn't find that information anywhere. Also, any problems chucking them up in a lathe and facing them off, say a 1/16th or 1/8th inch on each end if needed...

    Seat belt retractor issues

It appears that my passenger side seat belt retractor has eaten enough mother nature that it stopped working correctly. Half way through a nine day back woods road trip it started to not release the seat belt so you could pull enough out to buckle up. Fiddled with it and got enough out to...

    Flying Jeeps

The wife sent me this, with the comment "At least I didn't fly your Jeep like this!". Laughed like crazy over it. Looks like a fat kid doing a belly flop in a kiddie pool. Edited to add: Here's the back story. https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/how-not-to-check-bumpstops.23735/

Adding a tank to OBA system

What are the pro's and con's of adding a small air tank to an OBA system? This is for a TJ that spends a lot of time off and on road with 32's, support for a JKU on 33's and no air tools. Maybe air lockers. Just curious at this point.
