    Rear pinion shield

You think carefully throwing a few tack welds on will get hot enough to melt the seal? I’d do one tack at a time and let it cool. Looks like it did it’s job taking a hit instead of the corner of the dif. I kind of want to keep it.

    Rear pinion shield

some battle damage from the weekend wheeling. Looks like a rock hit the shield that is behind the rear pinion yoke. What should I do? Should I weld it to the yoke? The axle? Cut it off? Here is a video showing the issue. Thanks Mark

Done for now - TJ build on a "Budget"

After about a year and a half, I am declaring my first Jeep build done...for now I have been driving it since January but there was a list of things left to do and I just crossed the last thing off the list. Started with a super rusty $900 2000 TJ to play with Well it was dark and cold when I...

    Creaking in the rear

To update the issue of the creak I only changed the shocks last night and I haven’t finished a couple of other things I am doing so I don’t know if the shocks or greasing the sway bar will solve the issue. I can say that one of my old shocks was completely empty and useless so I wouldn’t be...

    Creaking in the rear

I actually just did them last night. I had no problem but I did a full frame swap in the last year so the bolts hadn’t been in there very long. Definitely a danger of snapping those bolts as they are just M8. Also the nut that is welded on the other side will sometimes break free and spin...

    Creaking in the rear

I’ve think I have eliminated the tailgate as the problem since I have removed the tire and driven with it open and I got the same noise. It's not a squeaking like a tailgate or hinges more like a creaking almost like an old staircase or something. thanks Mark

    Creaking in the rear

Got under it re torqued the tub mounts some of them were not tight enough but still creaking. Too bad I thought I had it:( Inspected everything and noticed one of my rear shocks are leaking. So I’m going to order some rear shocks and install them. At that time I’ll look over the rest of the...

    Creaking in the rear

Definitely I need to change the bushings in the seat as it is loose. I have a link somewhere to a guy who is selling 3D printed bushings. Going to order some. But the creaking really seams to be coming from the trunk. Going to slide under and see if I can spot anything. Let you know...

    Creaking in the rear

my tj has started creaking in the rear and it’s driving me crazy! I have ruled out the back door and spare. Removed the spare and drove with the back door open and same creak. It’s not the back seat took it out and same. I have a soft top and made sure all of the hardware is tightened. I can...

    Brake issue / bleeding?

LOL shoes are too small. I’ll eventually get larger winters but until then I don’t want to get a ticket and they write them often.

    Brake issue / bleeding?

Don’t have sye or adjustable a arms so I’ll try to put in some .5” spacers and see if it cures it. Will probably do it this weekend and report back. Will eventually invest in more goodies but my initial goal was a rebuilt safe, solid rust free close to stock tj and then build from there. Im...

    Brake issue / bleeding?

I’ll look at that. There is 1.75” spring spacers but I was under the impression that at 1.75” I didn’t need a skid drop. Am I wrong?

    Brake issue / bleeding?

Problem solved brakes work well! First real drive:). Steering is pretty evil, I’m going to start with and alignment and then see what it feels like thereafter. Also a small vibration in acceleration. Not speed related because I didn’t really feel it on the highway but feeling it on...
