    Battery recommendations

I like Walmart batteries for three reasons. 1) for me they have lasted just as long as $200+ Optima’s that I’ve had 2) Walmart’s return/refund/exchange policy can’t be beat 3) There is a Walmart in almost any town you visit in the US. Making it convenient if you need to exchange the battery

OEM heater core discontinued: Best replacement?

Looks to me like the 4874046 is for 02-06 RHD only. https://www.morris4x4center.com/heater-core-4874046.html And though this is not a Mopar, it’s using the same part # 4874045. This is the heater core part number I’d use for your 97 LHD. And my 99 also...

OEM heater core discontinued: Best replacement?

Here is a link to the heater cores on RockAuto. They show to have the OEM Mopar in stock for an A/C equipped TJ. I'm not sure what the difference is between A/C equipped and non-a/c. Maybe it has an Evap core attached to it? Is the OEM core made of copper? All the other brands they have are...

OEM heater core discontinued: Best replacement?

Same boat as you guys. My core seems to be leaking also as I smell hot coolant every time I run the heat. Can’t find any signs of leaking though, yet.

What is causing my TJ body to sway?

A lot of guys here, Jerry B included I think, recommend Rancho RS5000X shocks. Good price for a good shock. I just put a set on mine. So far only about 100 miles on them but I like them.

Help with installing sway bar disconnects

Have you tried just breaking the nut loose, without holding the Torx bolt? Or does it just spin the bolt? Sometimes it’s the bolt that’s seized in place, allowing the nut to come loose. Maybe you said the bolt is spinning. Not quite clear on that. Be sure your using the correct size Torx bit...

What did you do to your TJ today?

No it wasn’t shot, still working just fine. But it was leaking. Just bought the TJ back in January and didn’t notice much of a leak. Then I checked the t-case fluid and found it only half full. So I filled it to correct level. Once I got home from work next day EVERYTHING behind the TC was...

What brand oil and oil filter do you prefer?

Agree that pretty much any name brand will do the job. The most important part is as @ohiopatriot stated. That said, I’m a stickler on using same same every time. My preference is Valvoline High Mileage synthetic blend 10w30 and a Wix XP filter. Every 4K miles.

Are all SYE transfer case seals the same?

Will do. What am I looking for in a worn out chain?

Are all SYE transfer case seals the same?

That helps a lot, thanks! It’s on order.

Are all SYE transfer case seals the same?

My transfer case is leaking pretty badly from the rear output seal and it seems from the case half. I’m going to pull it out of the TJ and disassemble to redo all the seals and sealants. But I’m having trouble finding the rear output seal for my SYE. Are ALL SYE seals the same? Don’t know what...

    Rancho RS5000X Shocks

Those Rancho part numbers you posted don’t look like 5000X numbers. For your 2005 TJ, 2.5” Lift I’d go with RS55239 front and RS55241 rear. You could also call Rancho to confirm. I’m looking here: http://www.gorancho.com/products/shock-absorbers?cat=23&find=2005-jeep-wrangler-4wd-1420409...

    JKS Trackbar Help

I havnt used a JKS Track bar but have used Metal Cloak in the past. Never had an issue with it coming loose. I used a couple drops of Loctite red, tighten the nut as far as possible with just the wrench. Then give maybe another 1/16th(if that) of a turn with a cheater bar on the wrench.

Why do you drive a Jeep?

The Jeep is easy to work on. I do nearly EVERYTHING myself, in my garage. It is inexpensive to repair, mostly. It's reliable(the 4.0, NOT the 4.7 V8). My son loves it. It makes my daily drive enjoyable, rather than just A to B. It'll go places most other vehicles cannot, if I need it to.

    Dana 44, Super 35, or Ford 8.8?

OK, good info thanks. My TJ came with the 8.8 so since someone else went through that expense, I’ll run it til it dies.

    Dana 44, Super 35, or Ford 8.8?

Care to elaborate on this statement?

Shocks. The good the bad and the ugly.

Roger That! I definitely don’t want TOO soft. I tow an 8k pound RV about 8-10k miles a year. Sounds like 9000XL’s is the way to go. Soft setting when empty, harder setting when loaded.
