Good point about the heat under the hood. Historically I would solder and seal with marine grade shrink tubing. Probably still going to go that route.

I tow my TJ on a regular basis and always lock a key inside with the ignition turn to the unlocked position. I have several friends that claim to have removed the removed the locking tab that have this same issue on occasion. I have learned from their desire to be too lazy to unlock the ignition...
