    COMOX, BC

I've been away for a bit. You guys are more focused on modifying TJs, I'm more focused on doing things with zero mods altho I was into that for 20 years. Now I just like to "travel" within the bounds of a stock TJR. I know there are a lot of ex military here and thought you'd like this. Comox...

    Remembrance Day

I inherited this Citation from WWII of my Uncle. Lest we forget, devotion, courage, integity, honour..... and cheerfully.... all get noted. And with that Government Issued Jeep, when they were all Government Issued. In the whole citation, the word cheerfully best describes my...

    Paddle Handle Fix

My TJ latch cammed over so I took it apart and fixed/lubricated it. In the process I drilled 2 holes for better access.... there was no way I could put it back together without those holes. Then I drilled holes in the passenger door too so I could lube that handle. So easy.... and simple to...

Looking for ideas on tethering my dog to roll bar

I have a dog platform and a tether to restrict his reach..... It has nothing to do with accident security. Leash and tether applied..... altho why bother eh.,

    Tire advice

Not an issue. I've had both 33x10.50s on 15 and 16 rims.... Off Road if there is a ride differece it is barely noticeable. Around town yes, potholes hit harder but on smooth pavement there is zero difference in the ride. Traction??? KO2s are pretty equal regardless of the rating,, C/D/E mean...

Sometimes working on your own vehicle isn't worth it

Yep, did this for 40 years. Today the shop rate sounds like a good deal. I do very little in the driveway. I mostly add things that are not routine maintenance but all the regular maintenance, brakes, steering, driveline even oil changes go to the shop. My weekend shot vs 6 hours of shop...

Is my LJ Rubicon supposed to feel gutless?

While gearing and tire size might be an issue, a plugged cat might be the real issue. That'll really make it a gutless turd. Looks like the gutless turd deleted his comment.

    Re-gear question: 3.07 to ?

odd man out here I have a Rubi on 33s in the mountains and I wish I had 3.73s rather than the 4.10s. Sure I down shift on the grades but thats why god gave you a left leg. Drive an automatic in tow/haul mode, they down shift too. ps, mine is a DD that sees 24K miles every year gear for the...

Is it worth keeping it or should I find another one?

Rust is the gift that keeps on giving. If you are still going to drive it in NY winters a fix will be incredibly short lived before what you weld to rusts out. Rather than $4K "fixing" it.... spend money on a Nevada, California, Arizona Jeep shopping vacation and drive something rust free home...

Who's got the highest miles on their TJ?

250K miles on my ;05, I average 24K miles a year, towing 2000# in the mountains for half of that. I swear by SandJ Engines in Spokane for remanufactured engines witn 70K???? mile warranties..... Met a BMW head on last year..... PS, a TJ is incredibly resilient. Wrote of the BMW but not the TJR...

To LJ or not to LJ

Bin there done that. I've had short wheelbase Jeeps since Grade 12, 1972,, an M38 flat fender, drove it a year in Alberta without a roof. Only sold it cuz the freaking wiring was all submersible and freaking expensive. Since then , a few CJs, loved them. a YJ maybe the best Jeep ever till the...
