    Help me understand re-gearing

Hey man! I had a 2004 with the 2.4 but it was an automatic with the elusive 4.56 option (on 30x9.50s by the way). Miss that Jeep. Anyway, nice gears, but not quite enough. Go with the the sage advice of Jerry.... 4.88s. Also, I see all the 31s vs 33s comparisons but you can split the two...

Vague suspension question (looking for guidance)

Good eyeball on the drop pitman! For the OP, with an 04 it's fair to say a control arm bushing is past it's prime somewhere. The axle tries to throw the pinon up during power a vice versa when you let off. Control arms are supposed to hold that, but a bad bushing would let it get slap happy...

    32 vs 33 tires

Yeah, and it also varies by manufacturer. 33s aren't really 33s, 35s not 35s, etc. etc. But that's the way it is. But lets be honest, the heart of the situation for most daily driver Jeep stuff is will it look cool while being functional (mostly). Otherwise, the dd crowd would all be on...

    32 vs 33 tires

I kinda posted this in another place of yours, but just a touch of elaboration. I bought mine with 4.5 inches of lift. Some old Fabtech set up. Even on 33s at the time, looked like a scared spider with a pot belly because it had this ginormous t-case drop to compensate. And ZERO flex. I got...

    CB radio recommendation

I did have a perfectly good radio (Uniden 505 with an external speaker, less than $50 for both) but wanted a new toy. Holy poop is it tiny. Worth double the price? Meh...a bit overkill for a lot of features that get limited to no use for me and the Unidens aren't that big to begin with...

Is the Jeep wave almost extinct?

Not dead, but definitely on life support. As long as Jeeps are modded, I believe it'll live on. It took a major hit with the JK four door Starbucks, neons, 20 size rim crowd. Sorry to JK and JL guys...I gave up. Too many kids in auto-ignore or cell phone land. I'll wave at an XJ or...

    CB radio recommendation

Up to you. I have a heavy duty spring and 3 foot firestik attached to a taillight mount. The spring makes it easy to lean the antenna and hold with bungee to clear limbs and stuff, plus there's the mental placebo of maybe not wrecking the taillight, mount, or tub if I somehow snag on something...

Anyone have pictures of TJs with 3" lift and 32s?

PB Blaster, hydro+kerosene, the new Super WD-40. Pick your poison and spray each night before bed for the days leading up to removal. You sure it's all the shocks fault? Heavy duty springs ride stiff. Shocks and springs gotta work in harmony.

Anyone have pictures of TJs with 3" lift and 32s?

Flex is pretty good. With front sway bar discoed, fronts get way up in but I haven't torn anything off....yet. I have 15x8s, forget the backspacing. "It is limited much?" No, but probably should be. ha ha. Factory bump stops are crumbly and mostly gone. New junk on order... Been putting...

Anyone have pictures of TJs with 3" lift and 32s?

Sorry not a good side pic...only ones in my phone. 32x11.50s, Cheap Zone 3 inch lift (2014 installed?) probably sagged a little bit by fun times and the winch.

    Has anyone used seat risers?

Really? Well that's a bummer. If I get off my duff and find some odd ball alternative, I'll holler. Thanks!

    Has anyone used seat risers?

Yup, at 6 feet you don't 'need' to raise yours, but I'm pretty sure you'll love it. Find a pre-2003 and try it first. More comfortable, legs are supported better, and the view out front is better. I ran across boxes specific to the 03-06 TJ with drivers F&T seats, but higher price for a...

    Has anyone used seat risers?

So glad I stumbled onto this thread. I was actually looking for ways to get a lock box for an 06 with dual fold and tumble fronts since there's no dang room under the seats. After seeing this thread, I jumped in my buddies 99...couldn't be THAT much of a difference, right? Geez. Night and...

What do you think the TJ should have come with from the factory (that you added on later) ?

Diesel. Liberty got one. Seriously?!?!?! 4.56 or 4.88 as an option across the board. No slip yokes...ever.

    Soft tops: frameless vs frame

Copy that, thanks! I've had a factory top for 14 years so I have a good idea just about every pro/con for living with it day to day. Frameless, no idea. Kinda want something different, however, they're both decent looking to me so I can't poo poo one type for the other based on just...

    Soft tops: frameless vs frame

I'm stuck between frameless or framed for subjective reasons (looks). They both look cool so I can't decide. Looking at the Softopper, discovered matching the soft doors to the top may be a bit wonky since they don't offer soft uppers. Rumor has it the best top material is close enough not to...

    Squeak from serpentine belt... still

My fan clutch is pretty hard to turn when it's cold...didn't use to be so it's coming out. More on checking the fan clutch: https://www.morris4x4center.com/jeep-knowledge-center/fan-clutch-diagnosis/

    Hidden Jeep Danger

Probably exit technique and seat position as mentioned earlier. I'm 6 feet so the seat is all the way back. Since I've been in Florida and Georgia since 2004, lots of time with no doors so lots of just jumping in and out. I have to remind myself to watch the loop if I spin to left and start...

    Squeak from serpentine belt... still

I can't even picture how that would go. But anyway, all was fine..the old belt was on for a long time with no issues.
