Who has grenaded their Dana 30?

The rear Dana 35 is considered the weaker link.

    Window frame rust

That looks very similar to what mine was. Once it started to rust there, it rusted really fast. I ended up buying a new windshield frame. Luckily mine was contained to just the windshield frame, and not the firewall/dash area.

Help me choose soft top color

I have a dark blue TJ. Originally I had a black hardtop and black softtop. After my zippers on my softtop broke, I found a great price ($100 Cdn) on a used khaki/spice (not sure) softtop. I originally did not think I'd like the look, but it it was functional and helped my wallet. Fast forward...

How has your OE Mopar exhaust manifold held up?

I have one of those cheap ebay Chinese accordian style ones that I installed over 10 yrs ago. (The OEM Jeep manifold cracked) For some reason, surprisingly to me, it's still solid. ...keeps fingers crossed I didn't just jinx it... I'm sure I'll have to replace it at some point.

    Transfer case maintenance

When installing a SYE in my 97 a couple years ago, I replaced the chain as a preventative measure/peace of mind. It was easier to have in hand once the transfer case was opened than to open the transfer case and then realize I needed to order one - especially because I was paying a friend to do...

How reliable are Jeep Wrangler TJs as daily drivers?

I've daily driven mine for over 22 years. It's also the only vehicle I've over owned, so I can't really compare my experience with other vehicles. Then again, I don't think any of my friends are driving the same vehicles after 22yrs, so that might say something about Jeeps vs other vehicles...or...

What's the Difference Between Power Trax Grip Pro and Detroit Trutracs?

partially copy/pasted from another thread I just posted on: I have TrueTrac's in both my front and rear and love them. It's my daily (only) driver and I see more than my fair share of snow/ice conditions, which influenced my decision heavily. So far, I have never gotten stuck or unable to...

What are your recommendations for LSDs and re-gearing?

I should note that I originally had an auto-locker up front. Only once when I had it, when driving on ice on the highway, did it spin me around uncontrollably over 360' across the other lane and into the ditch. If a vehicle would have been coming in the other direction, I might not be alive. So...

What are your recommendations for LSDs and re-gearing?

To be clear though, as the OP was asking about LSD's - LSD's like the TruTrac is awesome up front in snow/ice conditions, and should not be confused with auto lockers (although it's a common mistake). The TruTrac is "auto", but not a true locker. It is my belief that in snow/ice driving, a...

Easy DIY device to keep hardtop glass closed

I love this idea and may use it...if spring ever arrives here.

I prefer ZJ Canyon wheels on a TJ

I didn't know there were 2 different versions of the Canyon style. Good to know. I have the ZJ ones currently on for winter. I bought them used from a ZJ. Then I actually bought a 2nd set off of kijiji, from a TJ owner...so good to know to never mix them. (Although different paint scheme...

    Anyone familiar with Core 4x4?

I have Core 4x4 upper control arms. I have no issues with them. Delivery was slow, but the customer service was good. I can live with that. I later upgraded to a higher tier, but the front upper attachments they sent were the from their new style, while I had their old style, so they did not...

    Drake billet accessories

The quality of the Drake products is extremely poor IMO. (I think the hardware they use are Chinese factory rejects - yes, that bad) I like the aesthetics of Drake products, but I'll never buy Drake again. I own their: - locking hood latches (very poor quality, soft bolts that strip). I would...

    Tailgate Hinge Upgrade

I have the Exogate and love it (aside from the fact I can't run my roof rack with it now, due to location/size of the larger hinges). That Rusty's one looks sweet too. You may only ever stick with 31's...but depending on the price you'll pay for just the hinges vs one of the above recommended...

How do you go about backing down a failed hill climb (Auto trans)?

I don't know if the 32RH would lock up while rolling backward down a hill if you're in drive. But like you, I shift into reverse when retreating down to take advantage of the engine braking vs shifting in neutral. I try to keep the steering as straight as possible at all times when I do this...

Looking for advice on lockers for my TJ

The Detroit Locker, quality-wise, is not inferior to a selectable locker IMO. That is not the reason it is cheaper. It is a very good, solid and reliable option (assuming you're not driving on snow/ice). (a lunchbox locker would be cheaper because it's inferior IMO, but not a Detroit Locker)...

TJ feels like it wants to go all over the road with new tires

Wheel alignment? You're sure it's not the steering box? 35" tires are not nice to steering boxes... Steering linkage is tight? (It felt like I had some play in the cross joint of my Crown HD steering, and it went away with the Savvy Ultimate Steering.

Currie Currectlync vs. Savvy Ultimate Steering

I have the Savvy Ultimate Steering. One of the advantages of aluminum over steel (for me) is that the cosmetics last longer if you live in a rust belt area (which I do). That may or may not be important to everyone. But it's close to the road/snow, and very visible from the front. It's...

    Mud Flaps?

I bought generic bolt on removable mud flaps for my rear tires. I think it was a trailer hitch kind of shop that I ended up buying it from. It looks almost exactly as the Teraflex link above, except a bit cheaper, and I had to cut down the width of the flap myself (which I preferred, as I made...

Benefits of aluminum versus steel wheels? Also, opinions on these wheels?

Really? I've only had that bonding problem when I had steel wheels. However, that was in my early years when I didn't know about things like rotating tires, etc, so those steelies would spend several seasons on my Jeep. I have 2 sets of alloy rims now (summer/winter), so I guess not on long...
