The "don't be this guy" thread

The last two wheeling trips in the local mountains have put my recovery gear to work, and not on me! First gent was driving a Nissan, in a crevice almost on his side, he and his two companions had no clue that a rear wheel drive vehicle could have an issue. No equipment, no recovery points, no...

    Stickers & Decals

Personally am not much for stickers and decals, do have a veterans flag on the rear glass. But recently with the "19" issue and having one daughter on the ER staff and another with law enforcement. I purchased a nursing sticker for the one, and am planning to offer one to all her co-workers for...

Should my control arms be the same length?

My rear uppper control arm driver side measures 12 5/8" center to center, passenger side is 13". The lowers are identical in length. Am assuming the uppers should be the same length, I had the lift installed awhile ago. What will that difference in length do?

    Currie bumpers

Does anybody run run Currie bumpers? I see them occasionally listed on Craigslist. I have the Currie lift system on my 05 LJ and like the product. I don't see them mentioned much here on the forum and their website doesn't list them. I currently have stock bumpers and am planning to change, I...

    Forgotten treasures

I have always been a Jeep fan but never owned one until January of this year. Just this morning I remembered I've had these tucked away in the back of the safe for years, thought I would share with the forum.

Steering pulls slightly to the right

Hi all, well the lift is in, have played with the rancho 9000 adjustment knobs till my fingers are raw. Did any easy run with the club this past weekend to shake it down, all worked fine. But, my steering has a slight pull to the right, it is constant at any speed, not drastic but just enough to...

    Problems ahead?

So, the 33's don't fit the stock tire carrier, I now have the tire relocation bracket along with the brake light relocation spacer. Should the tire be resting against the rubber stops on the door to minimize vibration? I currently have about 2" of gap? This is all temporary until I decide on the...

    Mounting safety equipment

Am preparing to go on a run with a jeep and one requirement is to have a fire extinguisher mounted in the vehicle. Been looking to mount it on the roll bar at the rear door. What the most secure mounts some of you may have used? They also require a first aid kit but that's an easy one.

Any suggestions / tips on installing my lift?

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a lift for my LJ, going with the Currie system. Am decently tooled up, have help if needed, it "appears" to be straight forward in application. Plan is to run 33's on it. Mostly a daily driver, not sure about what shocks to use, currently has 3.73 gears, will...

    Flat tow or trailer?

I have a stock LJ that I'm starting on, I plan on taking it a few hundred miles to use. Seems the cost to set it up for flat towing is about the cost of a nice trailer to tow it on. Any thoughts on this?
