    Gates idler pulley?

Placed an order with RockAuto for a belt-tensioner w/pulley, idler pulley and a new serpentine belt all made by Gates for my 2001 Sport Wrangler. Now I'm reading there may be a problem with the idler pulley fitting correctly because of redesign? My bad...should have done more research before...

    Which O2 sensors to replace?

I have a 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sport I bought new back in 2001 and approaching 71,000 miles. I have never had a check engine light for O2 sensor but feel age alone they probably should be replaced? Do I only need to change out the 2 pre-cat O2 sensors for performance and fuel efficiency?

2001 4.0 oil pressure sending unit leak

I don't have any problems with my oil pressure readings but my oil pressure sending unit does have a slight leak that I want to address before a road trip. Can a leak be stopped on these units or do they have to be replaced?

    A/C system not working

System was fully functional last time used but has not been used at all now for some years. This a/c system has never been opened up nor has it ever been operated using defrost mode which requires the operation of the compressor. At this point in time is there any hope for resurrecting this a/c...

While cleaning out my closet I came across an old roll of Karropak...would this be OK to use as gasket material for differentials? If so should it be used without RTV?

    Re-tightening stock control arms?

I need to trace down a little noise on my 2001 stock TJ Sport and I'm thinking it is either sway-bar end links or loose control arm bolts. I have already checked the front trackbar bolt on axle and its good. My question is would it be OK for me to have the fronts wheels up on "drive on" ramps...

    Brake caliper question?

Yesterday I re-greased my caliper pins and sanded down/lubricated cast slides while inspecting steering knuckles for any signs of divots. Brake pads still look new with even wear along with the rotors and best of all no divots. I had no braking issues this was just regular maintenance and...

    Tire chunking?

To be honest I have never seen tires do this before on any vehicle I have ever owned. My brother has a 2009 Toyota Tundra 4-door and his rear tires are actually having the tread torn/ripped off the surface? I have done some research on this and what I'm seeing is worn shocks can cause this. Are...

2001 TJ hard brake line won't mate with Mopar master cylinder

Last month I tried to replace my passenger side factory stock wheel cylinder (small leak) with a couple of different brands from Autozone and OReilly's with no luck. The only problem was the fact that the threads would not mate by finger-tightening. Frustrated I had no choice but to re-install...

    No more Chinaware for me

Tried to save a few dollars this past weekend by purchasing an aftermarket wheel cylinder for my 2001 Sport drum brakes. O'Reilly Auto Parts sold me a BrakeBest brand wheel cylinder which fit except for the fact the threads would not mate with the threads on the brake line flare nut. Next I...

    Replacing drum brake wheel cylinder

Yesterday while doing a routine visual inspection on my drum brakes I noticed my passenger side wheel cylinder had a small leak. The leak was so small there were no visible signs of a leak on the outside of the wheel. I would have never known unless I took the drum off. I plan on replacing both...

Has anyone experienced issues with older tires?

Just wondering if anyone here has experienced problems with using older tires on a vehicle. I'm talking about tires with overall good tread left and appearance but coming up on 10 years of age. I've read that 6 years is old but is some of that just marketing hype or are you "rolling the dice"...

    Engine temperature and oil temperature

If one reaches maximum operating temp (210 degrees) is this also roughly your oil temp? Reason I'm asking is a lot of times I make short trips as far as mileage BUT I always hit maximum operating temp. This year so far I've only put 1700 miles on my on my last oil change (Valvoline High-Mileage...

Could caster change with tire rotation and new shocks?

If one replaces a set of tired old shocks along with a needed tire rotation could this slightly give a different caster reading? The reason I'm asking is I've noticed a SLIGHT difference in my "return to center" on my steering after replacing shocks and tire rotation? It's not bad but just not...

    0331 Head

I bought my Jeep Wrangler Sport new in Arizona back in 2001. I've always kept my maintenance up to date. Currently have just over 59,000 original miles on her and sadly there is no Tupy stamp :>( I'm curious to know how many other forum members here are still utilizing the infamous 0331 head...

    How hard is too hard?

My driver's side rear drum has two wheel lugs I have to replace thanks to impacts in the hands of people that don't know how to use them properly :>(( I have heard some people say that using a big heavy hammer could possibly do other damage if not careful...especially with a D-35 axle? Just...
