I treat it every fall. it is not garaged. we don't get as much snow as the northeast so there are only a handful of times each winter the roads are typically treated. I don't go out of my way to avoid them but I don't go looking for them either.

it "firms up" might be the best way I can describe it (not rock hard but doesn't remain gooey/wet) and yes roads in Northern Virginia are pre-treated with a brine solution when there is a forecast of snow

I repaired mine by slicing a length of a narrow straw and wrapping it around the vacuum line and then wrapping it with electrical tape. I did this as a short-term fix while waiting for the replacement vacuum line to be delivered. that was a couple of years ago. I still have the new line waiting...

I think you be onto something. I installed bulb type 1156 because that's what I had on hand and it seemed to fit but I checked the owner's manual and see that is for the back-up light. Bulb type 1157 is indicated for the stop/tail/turn lamps. I'll get one of those and if that doesn't do it...
