Went off roading in a heavy brush area today and now my speedo is flipping out. Also getting an intermittent Airbag light that may or may not be related. Speedo wire looks good coming out of the transfer case. Any ideas. Video attached: notice the airbag light coming on at the end as well...

    2000 TJ Speedometer not working

New Jeep owner, have a 2000 TJ and I recently had a new clutch put in. Afterwards, noticed the speedometer was no longer working. Thinking it was mechanical and they simply forgot to screw it back again, I put it off for a while. Later, when taking it in for some electrical issues, I asked them...

Could I have the wrong speedometer gear?

I bought a Jeep about a month ago. Has 4.88 gears along with 35" tires. I was curious to see if my speedometer was correct. Downloaded an app to see how fast I was going and my speedometer said 40 but my app said 37. So a 3 MPH difference. I was looking through the paperwork that I took pictures...

Need tooth count for speedo gear

I am trying to get my speedometer correct with the larger tires. I have determined that my gear ratio is a 2.35 and my tires are 33" but can't find a chart that give me those combinations. Is there anyone out there that has any idea on where I could look or what the tooth count might be?

Speedometer, oil pressure, and temp gauges aren't working

I bought my '98 Sport as a salvage and rebuilt it. All lights seem to work fine. Tach, Fuel, and Volts all work as well. Speedo isn't working, but still tracks mileage. Oil Pressure and Temp are out as well. Just these 3 gauges are screwed up for some reason. On hot days (usually after...

    Speedometer needle fix?

Hello everyone, new to the forum. I've got a 99 Wrangler sport with the 4.0 and 5 speed. Yesterday I decided to do something about the abysmal factory dash speakers and head unit, so I installed new speakers along with a JVC head unit. That all went well (or so I thought) until today when I went...

    Speedometer suddenly stopped working

My speedo just stopped working while I was going down the road...any ideas? The rest of the gauges work, but I did notice my curse control does not work as well. The dash light works but it will not engage. Also the check engine light came on. Any ideas? Think these things are connected? Thanks

Please Help! Speedometer reads 95 when I'm going 25

I have a 2004 Rubicon I recently had the a/c repaired and while I was driving away I felt the governor. I looked down and it said I was going 95. My mechanic tried flashing the CPU but it didn't help. If he removes the speed sensor it drives perfect but obviously I won't have a speedometer.

How to correct speedometer on TJ Rubicon?

Ummm, I have a TJ (errrr, LJ) Rubicon and I run 33" tires. My speedometer is clearly off by a little bit, but as I understand the Rubicon doesn't have the typical speedometer gear tooth you can easily change out, is this correct? If so, how do I go about re-calibrating my speedo for 33" tires...

How to recalibrate your speedometer after changing tire sizes or gears

If you have a 97-06 Wrangler TJ and recently went to bigger tires, you'll probably notice that your speedometer is off. This is an easy fix by purchasing the correct gear for your tire size and ring and pinion. NOTE: This will not work on 03-06 Rubicon models. See the bottom of this post for...
