“Mud flaps”

Not sure if the technical term for the flare extension on the front is a mud flap but I’ve often seen them removed with some sort of diamond plate or thick textured tape along the bottom of the Jeep between the flares under the door

What’s everyone use to cover the holes left from the removal?

I use these from an Ebay seller, PBR products. They sell them in black powdercoat and natural aluminum. Different heights as well.

You guys think some rubber welt is good to install bw the that and the tub? I was thinking to add the welt when I do my rock sliders

Yes, the Rubicon models come with these installed from the factory, and they ave a piece of rubber weatherstripping on the top of them. It's a smart idea, because it keeps water and moisture out, which is sure to cause rust if you're in the wrong area.

So once that’s off it’s easy to put the strip of aluminum diamond plate or some texture flats Black there that will cover whatever holes are there from removing the flare extension?

What do they call that? A kick plate?

I think they call it a rocker panel, rocker guard, or something like that. There will be nutserts left in the fender from the flare extension. I used a 4" angle grinder to buzz off the end then they fall out. You can't really leave them as the panel will not fit flat.

Tip of the day; ask them to send extra rivets. The panel needs a few more than supplied to make it completely flat, IMO. That and I am a bit OCD
I asked if I could purchase more, since they are black and not easily found, and they were super cool and sent me extras for free.
