04 LJK Repair, Redo, Recycle - The 3 R's of a First Build

Is there a correct clocking for JK axles? I know they make the jig for TJ but I wonder how you got to that specific orientation for your JK axle.
Hey are your midarms still in your closet or did you get it done?

Daaaaang. Just dropped $250 in brake fittings from summit to run custom lines on rear axle. That's not even including the long flex hose down the UCA or the 3/16 stainless tube I already have!!!

North Sound Hose is right in north Everett and can custom make you hoses and usually have fittings in stock. Just for future reference :D

Geez. What’d you buy? I think I have around 100-150 in mine.

I've tried to use them before but they don't have anything that might be automotive specific, not sure if they do -3AN hoses. I'll call about that one because it would be nice to march down there and pick it up vs ordering. Summit is so easy, everything should be here by Friday (hopefully) so I can build hardlines this weekend. Have you bought brake lines from them? I feel like i asked them before and they didnt do brakes but i can't recall exactly. I know Aaron's Olympic 4x4 does custom brake hoses but not in 3AN.

EDIT: my order was $115 for everything. Just for the rear. Idk if that’s the way you wanted to do it but all you needed was three braided hoses, one 3/8 to -3an fitting, one tee and a 90 degree bracket with the clip.

These are in no specific order. This may not be helpful for you now but maybe someone else later.

I currently only have a photo of the upper frame side bracket mounting. If you need/want the axle brake line photos I’ll get them. Install turned out a lot cleaner than the factory lines.

*I would recommend measuring your upper length better. Mine is long but there’s no harm to it. Also order a longer than 20” driver side length.

Ya I am doing it fancy with stainless hard lines because i want it to be beautiful, distract from my welds. Hahah.

Do you have an AN proper flaring tool? They are not the same degree as the typical SAE double flare.
Ya i have the mastercool, its a 37deg flare right? I'm trying to remember back to the fall when i did the fronts. Now i was assuming i can cut off the oem 3/8 nut on the frame side an reflare for the stainless -3AN, is that an option?

I'll have to look. I bought the AN dies and keep them separate so I can just grab them when I do AN stuff. Yes, you can do the cut and flare but then you need a bulkhead fitting to go at the upper mid arm mount like Matt did it. I prefer that way and just use the AN to inverted flare bulk head adapter and clip and then do all AN after that.

Wow i can't believe i like totally forgot how to do it. I think its a 2 step process right? Is this considered a double flare?

You need to start wearing your coonskin hat more often, the sun is rotting your brain. Yes, it is a two step process not to be confused with your bassackwards Texas line dance bullshit.

It's a gosh dang coyote skin and you know that!!!! Also it's the welding fumes that are killing me ohhhh and the burning JB weld that might have had something to do with it.

Well nothing too exciting tonight. I primed and painted the axle. It had quite a bit of rust showing up. Also finished welding the midarm frame brackets. I have to say I am winning no award for my weldings today. I think part of it may have been my copper tip was partly plugged was having issues with pushing wire. I found the extra tip I had and that seems to have helped. I will paint the frame brackets and move the axle under the rig tomorrow. There was some portion on the top of the bracket that I couldn't weld due to the SWAG body mount lifted up there. I will go in and smear RTV on that portion to keep water out after I paint.

Got my arms, joints, and Currie bumpstops so I'm ready to start cycling. Brake line parts have shipped already (summit is rad).

Rough control arm settings in. Will prob need to dial in pinion angle more at ride height once I put Currie springs in. The curries are going to let me go up almost another inch and lets me use the Currie bumpstops pretty much as is, no additional height modifications.

Have you fitted your Currie bumps yet? I’d be really curious how much contact and compression they have at your shocks full bump.

Not yet, I'm just going to full shock bump. I have to pick up a 10mm tap and Clean up that upper bump cup thread it got nasty backing to bolt out. The dimensions I took look about perfect. Bumps should hit with a bit of shaft showing.
