Starting this a little late, but I'm in the middle of dropping a chevy 5.3/4l60e trans into my tj and prepping some Dana 60/70 to swap in the near future. Going to run the axles full width with a 3" front stretch and a 5" rear stretch. Trying to decide on 37" or 40" tires. The tire size will determine my lift height. All I got to do for the tj to run is finish the wiring and fuel lines. Getting my driveshafts from Adams Driveshafts and got everything I need for the conversion from Novak. I'm learning as I go on this build. Currently looking into getting trusses from Artic or fabricating my own. Always welcome any insight for this build. The goal is to be street "legal", but be able to hit the trails without worry.

I'll definitely be following this build!

@Stinger has a Chevy V8 in his LJ, so I'll bet he has some good advice that he's picked up having done the whole V8 swap!

What do you think the axles are going to set you back?

@Stinger, are you still on the stock Dana 44 axles with your V8?

The axles costed me $400, but I need to re-gear them, put lockers in, buy/build trusses and brackets, etc. I'm expecting about 2500-3000 to get them built the way I want them.

Not as bad as I would have suspected!

I'm keeping the axles mostly stock for now. I just want to get them locked and geared for the tire size I want. I'll beef them more once I get everything else where I want it.

The 04 tj fuel pump pushes enough psi for the 5.3. I just need to replace the regulator and I'm good to go. Deleted the Evap system

Here is the Dana 60 and 70 I picked up for 400, both came out of a 98 Ram 2500. I know they aren't the desired Ford Dana, but for the price I couldn't let them pass me by. Just ordered a CAD delete from EMS Offroad. Decided to just buy a truss and brackets for the Dana 60 from Arctic Industries. As for the Dana 70 I'm still looking looking around. Can't seem to find a pre fabricated kits for a TJ. Might end up making my own or buying a kit for a 14 bolt or Dana 60 and trimming it to fit the Dana 70. Anyone know where I could find a truss and brackets for the Dana 70? I'm going to be running a 4 link rear, possibly with a coil over set up.
