Have a noise that I can’t seem to find a lot of help on. Have a few clicks in the trans/clutch when engaging/disengaging clutch. Sounds like it’s at the front of the trans instead of pedal. Jeep still shifts perfect and drives fine. But there’s also a noise when clutch is disengaged. Not bearing noise but more of a loose flywheel bolt noise or something of the sort. Almost like a small piece of metal bouncing around if that makes any sense. I took videos but not sure how to add them. I’ll try to figure that out. Any thoughts?

The more and more I dig on here it sounds like the same to me. Can I still drive for a while like this until I can get it replaced? No crazy driving but it doesn’t seem to hinder how it shifts and drives currently. Not a daily driver so I can park it if I should.

The nv3550 is a noisy transmission. For the 8 years I daily drove it, it rumbled in neutral or with the clutch disengaged. And the clutch clicked nearly every time every day for those 8 years that I used it. I did replace the clutch once about 6 years into it and the noises only changed, but never disappeared.

I’m gathering that the more I dig into this because my brain won’t stop thinking about it. Only thing that bothers me is the ticking sound but if it’s not a sign of catastrophic issues then I’m not that worried. It’s a jeep after all. lol. I think im gonna drive it unless it gets way louder because at the moment it’s not crazy by any stretch.

My throw out bearing has been rattling for a few months now after the engine warms up. My clutch petal also clicks when engaged. I am holding out until this winter to drop the transmission to change the bearings, clutch and assess my flywheel.

These transmissions are very noisy, particularly the NV3550. If it were me I would just keep driving it and unless it gets significantly louder, it isn't a concern.

Redline transmission fluid might help potentially.

I appreciate all the responses I think I’m gonna do the same as BDub said. I’ll have access to attempt it this winter.

Let me repeat, the noise with the clutch pushed in or just simply idling in N on the 05 and 06 NSG370 that sounds like something loose in the trans is normal.

All the comments referencing the NV3550 do not apply.

Stick your head up under the dash and push the pedal. The 05 and 06 clutch safety switches are known to click and/or fail.

The throwout bearing or the pilot bearing will squeal when the clutch is pushed in.

On mine, the pilot bearing went out before the clutch or the throwout bearing did.
