Have a manual 06 TJ and ran into the issue of the inner metal piece being broken (previous owner had it super glued half in place and it disintegrated).

Wanted to replace my leather boot cover as it was torn, but was unable to track down the replacement metal piece online, and ran into the issue of the 06 not being compatible with previous year’s shifter design.

Interim fix has been riveting a new boot to the old plastic outer cover, but wanted to see if anyone knew where to track down a stock replacement module for the 06.

@TJ2006 — inner or outer shift boot? If you're talking about the outer vinyl one, that thin metal picture-frame-like piece can be hard/impossible to find. I think there have been some discussions on here about making something to replace it, but I don't remember where.

If you're talking about that expensive inner rubber one P man showed, there are several discussions on here about replacing the rubber with aftermarket shift boots.

Unfortunately, those of us with the later (04-06) manual transmissions are kind of SOL if that metal bezel rusts or breaks.

I doubt it was ever sold on its own like the previous plastic-framed bezels. Since the vinyl/eather boot was glued to/around it, I think both came as a unit.

Folks here typically tell you to check junkyards, ebay, or the other places where these unobtainable parts randomly come up for sale. Occasionally, one may come up for sale here.

Happy hunting.

Thank you for the reply! I am referencing the outer vinyl one. Just wanted to confirm that I wasn’t missing something as to how to find it online and that it’s just evasive to track down. Helpful to know I’m not the only one.
