My tank has been leaking or over a decade when topped off. I think that it is leaking from the plastic nut or the that part of tank that holds the fuel pump in place. if I trickle in the gas the filler hose never over fills and the fuel just drips from the bottom. I am not able to drop the tank with out breaking bolts (too much rust). I am not able to find an affordable 19 gallon tank anywhere. I would like to keep the parts prices below $250. Do you have any recommendations?

I shopped around on Facebook Marketplace until I found a tank and skid plate for $100. As my 97SE was missing most of the bolts I went ahead and replaced all of them. It seems daunting but it’s not as horrible as it looks.

I took pictures during the process and replaced all the bolts with stainless steel hardware. If it helps you can take a look at my build thread. It’s two wards the end.
