1998 TJ 4.0 engine removal

I haven't done it personally, but I would certainly thing it could be done, you would just have to be tedious and extremely careful when removing the engine.
 
Yes, you'll have to remove the compressor from the engine first.

I suspect it may be possible like I said, just tedious!
 
If you remove the grill and almost all of the front components. Been there done that,

Thanks all, it looked like if I just unbolted the compressor and tied it out of the way, removed the mounting bracket, alternator and bracket it may slide by. Probably easier just to get it recharged.
