1998 TJ 4.0 engine removal

Can the 4.0 in a TJ be removed without discharging and disconnecting the AC?

I haven't done it personally, but I would certainly thing it could be done, you would just have to be tedious and extremely careful when removing the engine.

I dunno how unless you removed the a/c compressor from the engine first.

Yes, you'll have to remove the compressor from the engine first.

I suspect it may be possible like I said, just tedious!

I knew it had to be possible, just a SOB.

Thanks all, it looked like if I just unbolted the compressor and tied it out of the way, removed the mounting bracket, alternator and bracket it may slide by. Probably easier just to get it recharged.

Definitely easier to just get it recharged in my opinion!
