I sold my 06 a couple years ago due to health reasons thinking I wouldn’t be able to take care of it. I had it regeared 4:88 with Detroit Trutracs, upgrade axles, one 2.5 heavy springs and 1.25 body lift all from Dirk at DPG I got the kit without control arms. It did great in Ouray Co. on a trip there. Story short I regretted it ever since so I found a clean 1999 4.0 5 speed only mod is 2 in procomp springs & shocks. I put 31 X 10.5 x15 BFG AT tires on it, a rock hard bumper and M8000 Warn, other than the springs and shocks I like the way it rides and thinking about staying with the 31 on tires just so I don’t have to regear. So I’m looking for suggestions on what lift kit. I’m not a big fan of the body lift even the 1.25 like I did before. So I was thinking OME kit with track bars and all from DPG. I also seen JKS has a 3 in Kit but can’t find any reviews, or I thought about Currie but I think it’s a 4 in. I’m thinking 4 in and 3 may be too much with 31 in tires I don’t want it looking stupid. It’s not a DD just hobby or fun and not looking for a cheap way out.

I did a 4” Currie with their steering gear, I have 35” tires with a 1” body lift and 4.56 gears. I don’t know what it drove like stock but it drives really good now, I know they guy before me paid like $2,500 to re-gear so I don’t blame you.

I think the 4” plus your BL would be too much for the 31” and change angles and change your driveline. Maybe go budget boost with spacers for now and see how you like it??

Maybe it was just a coincidence, or maybe it was a gentle hint, but @Chris reposted a thread title A Beginners Guide to Lifting Your Jeep Wrangler TJ

I just read this and found it very helpful. I’m in a similar situation. Building a daily driver able to handle trails. I think I’ve decided to go with the Metalcloak 3.5” lift and plan to run 33” tires. There is general consensus on this forum that Rancho shocks provide best ride quality.

I am curious on the JKS lift if anyone tried it. As of now I’m leaning to the OME ultimate kit from Dirk At DPG and maybe not install body lift until I decide if I want to go 33s or not . I’m sure I will later on.

@Farmergreg and @stephen Preyer have the JKS 3" kit. They seem to be happy with it. If you stick with 31's get some 2" BDS or Procomp springs and RanchoX shocks. Best bang for the buck IMO.

Love the look of a 2” lift and 31’s. Knowing what I know now, I would’ve stuck with my 33x10.50’s and a 2” spring.

Go big or go home! Grin, just have fun with it. Build it in stages and as you find that you want things like bigger tires, then you will have a reason to do more and learn as you go.

Now I can give my opinion on the JSPEC lift and 31 in tires after 400 miles I just added a sye and Tom woods drive shaft, BFG mt 33x12.5 Currie 4 in lift with control arms and anti rock , both adj track bars, Currie drag link and tie rod among many other things. The JKS wasn’t that bad just stiff and not what I wanted. Here it is now.
