2000 TJ Fuel Line Fittings

I'm aware of that part, where is it cut, or put another way, how much flex stainless braided new line would you need to get to the fuel pump outlet?

It looks cut right before where the forming would be. I have enough hose to make up the difference, but I have now way of forming the end let alone the knowledge to form it. I have looked around locally for a shop that could possibly do it, but I have not found one yet. I just ordered another set of lines from Jegs that will hopefully work.

That's good it is cut there. I've done that many times, but I have the ability to silver braze on a -6 male flare end and convert it right there to -6 and then make a flex line that gets over to the pump outlet which I converted to -6 male using the adapter fittings you and I showed above. The easy way for YOU to do it is find what is called a "flareless bite fitting" in 5/16" tube to 1/4" female pipe thread. Then you screw into the female side with a -6 male AN x 1/4" NPT adapter.

Ideally, we would like a 5/16" tube flareless bite x 3/8" JIC or -6 male flare but in all the years I've been looking for them, I've never found them. I make them by silver brazing a -6 male flare onto a 5/16" flareless bite union that I trim one part off of just past the hex. I can do that for you but you have to send me the SS flareless bite union. All in, you'd own a 50 dollar adapter and no one wants that.

FYI- "flareless bite" is a fancy way of saying it is a compression fitting.

Are you talking about something like this?

Ok I am very familiar with ss tubing fittings. We use them a lot daily at my work.
I source a lot of materials from the below. They have a few locations, not sure if any are near you, but they have found some really off the wall fittings for me in the past. They may be able to get something 5/16 tube x 3/8 JIC.
If these new lines do not work, I will resort to that route.

That UA-5-5 fitting might be a good one for my emergency stash in the Jeep.

When I severed my fuel line on the Rubicon I missed the steel line by an inch.

I'm carrying braided steel line and JIC fittings as an emergency spare...so that fitting would be a good one to add.

Nice find!

I bought my SS Tubes kit to replace a rusted out evap line. I didn't install the fuel line because it was fine and you know how it goes with aftermarket things being worse than OEM and not to replace things if you don't have to...Curious to go measure it now

I am familiar but that doesn't solve the problem. I have 5 grand in fittings and SS tube from them that I use to make my transmission fittings, all in SS. If we could find a -5 anything that fits 3/8" tube, we could do it. I just don't do anything with -5 or -7, or -9. My stuff is all -3, -4, -6, -8, -10, and -12.

The SAGA continues. Received the new set of hard lines from JEGS. Well they are manufactured by SS Tubes (Fine Lines), JEGS apparently just labels them with their own part number. Well same sad story, they are not formed correctly. So back to square one. I found these fittings (see attached photos). Anyone see any reason why these would not work? the are 5/16" compression X -6 AN male. If I cut the formed portion of the lines off and install these fittings, seems to me like it should work. Any input from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

I got a good deal of the way over the Rubicon and an 11 hour drive home on a bare line with a hose slipped over with a fuel injection hose clamp.

Probably could put any flare on the end for extra holding power and do just that.
