2000 TJ rear differential rebuild

There it is, run itđź‘Ť

Ok... Let me start by apologizing for not thanking everyone, especially Hosejockey61 for helping me through my first differential rebuild. I could never have done it without you... So today my son and I finally had time to put it all together and take it out for a nerve-wracking 20mile initial break-in run. All went well. Will do the second one tomorrow and then see how it goes. I am so effing relieved to get it out of my garage after all this time... I was actually getting used to the sweet smell of gear oil... :) Now I have to do the front one...

Thanks again everyone!

Ok... so finally got round to doing the front diff to match the gearing of the rear. I had removed the front driveshaft while I ran in the rear just to be safe... Coming up to 500 miles on the rear and all good so far...

Now... the front. Dana 30. with 4.56 gearing to match the back. What is the break in procedure for the front? Same as the rear; 20 miles then let it cool down completely. repeat a couple times? Do I have it in 4-wheel drive the whole time?

Help appreciated!

Arguably, the best way would be to remove the rear shaft and run it in 4 wheel drive. Who does that? Nobody that I know of. The front gears break in passively as you drive.
