2003 - 2004 mid-year exhaust change / final cat hanger?

Can anyone verify this?

It seems there was a mid-year change in the 03 where the hanger for the final cat was changed.

I ordered an 03 walker y pipe with pre-cats for my 03 TJ and it seems to fit fine. I had to send the 03 Eastern/APE final cat back because the hanger was not even close to being right.

These two pieces mated by an odd size 3 bolt flange. The 04 stuff is all slip together.

Currently planning to gut my oem 3rd cat and have that flange welded on as at least a temporary fix.


If you have an 03 and are ordering new exhaust parts you might want to check to make sure you don't actually need an 04 exhaust.

03? Was your stock final cat a separate piece or a permanent part of the y pipe and pre cats?

I have an 04 built in Oct 2003, bought in Jan 2004 and can confirm that I have the late 04 hanger as expected.

Both images are looking from the muffler connection, but the images are clear.

00-03 hanger is low

"04"-06 hanger bracket from the transmission is high

That looks like a high mount hanger?
