2004 Sahara engine code P1296

My 2004 Sahara all of a sudden started running rough yesterday

I gave it a full tune up about 4
months ago
cleaned the IAC and throttle body etc

yesterday it was showing an engine code for the map sensor
so i swapped that out today
which cured the hard starting issue it was having after I cleared the codes

now it runs and idles normally until 3000 rpms
than it starts to buck and break up and run rough
as soon as the rpms drop below 3000 it runs normal

its showing code
P1296

What should I be looking at next here ?

TPS sensor ?

thanks for any help

im trying to avoid just randomly replacing parts

I'd recommend disconnecting all of the throttle body sensors and cleaning them with a tooth brush or pipe cleaners and some contact cleaner. It's an inexpensive first step in troubleshooting your issue before buying more parts.

Spent some time and cleaned everything on the throttle body (it was very clean because I put a replacment engine in the jeep about 2 years ago and took some time with the original parts and cleaned everything up nicely before install of the engine

but I cleaned everything in the throttle body out again today anyway

replaced the map sensor and the tps
and the problem is still there

and the computer is still showing code P 1296

any other suggestions on what to check or test next ?
