2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon
Automatic, Hard Top, 40k miles in San Francisco CA with a clean title in my possession

Build Thread: click me

As I've mentioned to a few people, I'm planning on moving on from my LJR. It's been good to me, but I can only have one vehicle in my current living situation and need something different for some upcoming plans. For those curious, I plan on still getting something that can offroad mildly in the future, but more comfortable and spacious for longer trips.

I bought this Jeep around a year ago with 28k miles. I just had it detailed, it has some imperfections (crows feet and blemishes) where the clear coat is less than stellar on the hood, but the rest looks brand new with a mirror shine. I think if the hood was repainted it would look brand new although it doesn't look bad right now.

Summary

4.0L Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon with 4 speed automatic on a 4" short arm Lift, 35s, with a tummy tuck - all premium components used in the lift. Good to drive on the highway with cruise control (put about 12k miles on it in a year) but built to handle the tough trails and is ready to go, has proven itself in Moab and many areas around NorCal. I have put a lot of time and money into the build in parts, and I'll miss a lot, it's stance in my eyes is just about perfect for an LJR and looks awesome. Interior is great for the age of the vehicle, one small crack on the drivers door but otherwise everything functions and no tears or anything on the seats.

Brakes, Transmission, Diffs and Cooling have all been flushed in the last year. It's got a brand new battery. Ready to go for its next owner.

Mods:

Armor:
  • Savvy Front Bumper w/ Fairlead
  • Savvy Engine and Transmission Skid
  • Savvy Belly Up Skid
  • Savvy LJ Rockers
  • Barnett Diff Covers
  • Olympic 4x4 Mountain Climber Bumper
Suspension:
Wheels & Tires
Drivability:
Recovery + Lighting
  • Vision X Headlights & Vision X 4.7″ CG2 LED Light Cannon Lights
  • Warn Winch (older style M8000)
Interior & Misc
  • Tuffy Hood Latch
  • Weathertech Front Floor Mats
  • GraBars
  • Switch Panel
  • CB Radio & mount
  • Fire Extinguisher Spring Clip (not including fire extinguisher)
  • AEV third brake light
  • Sound Proofing (Noico 80mm mat with 170mm foam on top)
  • Bed rug
  • Brand new AGM battery

Known Issues:
Vibrations at idle - especially felt with the AC on
Vibrations after 60, mainly felt at around 70
Minor tranny pan leak

I would recommend a test drive to feel these and seeing if you can live with them. The vibrations popped up after the belly up skid (although this gained a ton of clearance here). I would describe them as tolerable, but different people may have different tolerances.

Other Things to Know
The Jeep has had 3 previous owners, and had an accident back in 2009 shown on the car fax. I was told it was parking lot fender bender by the previous owner. Carfax says "involving front end damage". I have not found any signs of an accident while working on it.

Damn, sad thread.

Great looking Jeep.

It's very bittersweet, I'm excited for what's next but almost on a weekly basis I've thought about just keeping the Jeep. However, when I really think about my long term plans and what I want to get out of a vehicle, it'll be a lot easier on another platform.

Seems to me this Jeep needs a new home on the other side of the bay - @Alex01 He has already put the sweat equity in.
Funny you say that. It's already in my garage. @tomtaylz do you want to talk about long term storage? 😛

While Tom's jeep is a awesome rig I have way to much blood, sweat, time, and money into mine. I would lose a considerable amount selling mine and likely owe Tom atleast 10-15k after the sale.

I hope it sells to someone in the wranglertjforum family. Like Tom I have a lot of time and a great memories with the LJR and would love to keep seeing it around.

Furthermore to he/she who buys it feel free to reach out if you ever have a question about anything done to the jeep!!

Hell of a transformation while sticking with that "stock" look.

For anyone that’s interested, I’ve seen this Jeep personally and it’s as clean as they come. You won’t be disappointed.

Nooooooooooo ... Your LJR and @glwood's TJR are amongst the nicest examples I've seen here. I know you've mentioned you were looking at something better suited for longer trips than what you can do with the LJ and I hope you have something grand planned to replace this one.

Good luck with your sale @tomtaylz.

Well this would have saved me a lot of money. :) good luck with the sale @tomtaylz

P.S. Can I get that plate now. ;-p

We might be able to work something out on the plate, especially if the buyer is out of state or doesn’t want it. I have no clue how transferring a plate works though?

You didn't even get to paint it impact orange ;)

I’ve actually grown to love the look of black with the gray hardtop besides the black downsides. It really does look perfect right now, my avatar picture is one of my favorite pictures I’ve taken.

Yes, the grey offsets the black nicely!
