Yesterday while driving home from work, I was getting on the interstate and hit what felt like a bump. Immediately all lights lit up on my dash and I lost all engine power. When coming to a stop I shifted into park and tried to restart the engine... nothing. Shifted in neutral tried to start... nothing.

I hooked up my Bluetooth scanner to see if any codes were thrown, but when trying to connect to the Jeep it couldn't. This made me think that maybe my ECU was bad, so after getting it home I threw my spare ECU on. Still no start. Internal lights and dash work, headlights work, horn works. Load test shows battery good.

When turning the key on I can't hear the fuel pump engaging. Turning the key does not crank the starter but I was able to crawl under and jump it with a wire. All it does is spin.

I'm getting power to both the fuel pump relay and the starter relay, but after that point nothing happens. I tried swapping the horn relay and the ASD relay and nothing happens. I've swapped the horn relay with the starter relay and the fuel pump relay with no change either. Horn works on all relays I've swapped.

Does this make sense to anyone? Because I'm starting to pull my hair out.

Additional info that could help:
  • It got a brand new transmission (automatic) in July, only 7,000 miles have been put on it.
  • For about a year now it will stutter every now and then at idle, most of the time after filling it with gas.
  • Recently in the past week or two it has felt like it hiccupped or sputtered after hitting bumps at highway speeds, engine bogs down but after taking foot off gas and coasting for a few seconds it goes away.

I would lean toward ignition switch, or ignition actuator pin since it's not cranking with the key.

You can pull up the FSM under Resources which has the schematics.

Other than that, check all the grounds, battery cables, look for chaffed wires around the trans.

THIS!!!! you knocked something loose or you had green crusties on a wire and you managed to break it lose at the worst possible time.

Thanks for reaching out, I've been spending the afternoon checking cables and wires to no luck. Thought about the possibility of bad Ignition Switch but would that cause the OBD2 port to not communicate? I also just found out that power is not even reaching the fuel pump relay but it is reaching the starter relay. I feel like I'm going crazy...

Correction to a statement above: There is no power reaching the fuel pump relay, but there is power reaching the starter relay- but from the starter relay to the starter there is nothing.
