2006 6cyl. Randomly one day wouldn't start. Got 12v on battery but 9v (or less) on guage. Tried jumping with no luck. Checked and cleaned all battery, alt, and starter wires. All fuses tested good and all relays click and pass power. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

If I understand your description of "One day wouldn't start" ; the engine will not crank over when the ignition switch is place in the Start position.
When you are trying to start the engine with the ignition switch; verify with a VOM what the voltage is at the starter solenoid actuation wire that comes from the ignition switch.
If there is no voltage at the starter solenoid then you need to inspect the ignition switch, the wiring and harness connector going to the ignition switch looking for signs of overheating. This can be done by removing the screws (3 or 4) to remove the plastic clam shell pieces surrounding the steering column.

Just got back to it today. So 12v at battery and starter wire. No voltage to key wire when key turned to start. The ignition switch is brand new (also did same symptoms with an older ignition switch i had). So possible wire broken? If i jump the starter to force it to start it will crank but no start and voltage drops to 10.8v.

Spray some brake clean into the throttle body and see if it runs a little.

What's the battery voltage drop to as you're cranking?

Had to jump the starter but tried this and no luck still dead. Still have 12v at battery when i jump the starter and force it to crank it just cranks no start or sputter voltage drops to 10.8v.

And no sputter or start spraying brake cleaner or starting fluid into the throttle body?

Nope engine still wont crank. Still have no dash input. Also have no click on starter relay under hood but if i jump the connector the jeep will crank but still not start. Could it possibly be pcm?

Check you ignition actuator.

A couple years ago I tried to start it and it started to, but it immediately quit trying to start. All gauges, lights, radio and fuel pump priming was normal. No clicking or anything. Battery voltage was good, swapped the starter relay with another one in the PDC with no change, disconnected the small wire on the starter and made a jumper with a female spade terminal hooked to the starter and touched it to the battery positive and the engine tried to crank. Checked that same wire I disconnected from the starter with a voltage meter and got nothing when turning the key. As soon as I pulled the actuator form the ignition switch, the broken piece fell out.

You'll need a T10 torx security bit (has a little hole in to go over the pin in the head of the screw) and a new actuator if thats what the problem is.

Don't lose the tiny little metal piece under the actuator cover.

I put a new switch and the pin and barrel are ok. Tried to turn the switch with a screwdriver to bypass the key and still nothing. Also i have no dash input so no voltage, rpm, fuel, oil, anything.

Do you have a OBDII reader to see if the PCM is alive?

Or just turn the key ON OFF ON OFF ON really quick and see if the PCM shows any codes in the odometer. At the minimum it will show done if no codes.

If nothing happens, it may be time to talk to @Wranglerfix about a new PCM.

My scanners say connection error when plugged in and i tried the on off .... Thing and only thing i get is millage.

3 should be plenty.

If neither the scanner or the odo trick is getting any info from the PCM, it's most likely dead, assuming it's getting power. Be sure all the fuses are good. You can also swap the relays around to rule out a bad relay. For example, if the horn works, you have a known good relay to try in the other locations.

A faulty manual pcm has three main faults. O2 sensors showing bad when good, loss of gauges (com) and stalling while driving. It is uncommon for the pcm to just die without any of these symptoms but not has happened.

I can run your pcm in my Jeep just to double check as a courtesy if you’d like to send it into me.

Thanks,

Mark

I have a loss of gauges, none of the gauges show any inputs. shows empty on fuel i added 5 gallons just to make sure. No voltage but have 12v at battery. No rpm when i short the starter. no oil pressure or coolant temp movement. No o2 codes or dying while driving though. Also have no feedback from 3 different obd2 scanners all say error or simply dont read.
