2006 Jeep Wrangler LJ build 11-2018

Wow! You certainly aren't messing around there. You might have more Jeep packages sitting there than I did at the peak of my build. It's coming along nicely though.

I'm curious to hear how you like those Falcon shocks (you are installing Falcon shocks, right?).

Thank you. Yes, Falcon shocks and stabilizer. At this pace will another 30 days before its rolling.

Well for the $65 I decided to get the truss even though I don’t really need it. I don’t regret it but much more work added to the build than I expected.

Remove UCA bracket
Prep axle for welding
Tack weld truss (slow not to heat too much)
Weld out truss. This is sloooow, I’m scared to overheat axle tube so taking 2 days to weld a little bit at a time. Attached are a few pics.

I hope your build is going well. I think many of us are interested in how those Falcon shocks are performing. Can you give us your opinion yet? There is a video from Extreme Terrain (Ryan) in which he is shown how the Falcon shocks are assembled at Teraflex in Utah. Great quality control!

The Falcon shocks likely don't yet have nearly the aftermarket support that the Fox shocks do (just look at how many race teams use Fox). That's what ultimate kept me from trying them out.

Still, I'm curious to see how you like them.

I agree Chris. And, OME, Bilsteins, Fox, etc. Have already proven themselves with all the abuse they get put through. These Falcons look promising, but we are all waiting for tests and reviews before we can trust them. Time and those courageous enough to be first will tell us. 😎

Totally agree! Someone has to test them out! I know a ton of the JK guys are running them, but I have yet to see someone put them on a TJ or LJ yet.

Sorry for long delay. My dad passed away unexpectedly 1/25 and I had lost interest in working on my Jeep and posting anything. I have done a lot over the past couple weeks and will get it on here at some point. Got it all together last weekend to find I needed a SYE and new rear driveshaft (on its way). Attached is a pic when I drove it out of garage for first time. Hope to have some Falcon Shocks feedback soon.

Sorry about the passing of your father. Condolences.

Well once again apologies for the long delay. I finally finished it about a month ago and have been out on one trail ride and about 300 miles on the road. I'm loving the look and have been getting a lot of good attention with it everywhere I go. All in I'm very happy with the Currie products front to back. The anti-rock was for sure hard to get used to first several times I drove it due to the body roll which seems to be worse turning left vs right and I have not figured that out yet. The Falcon shocks are bad ass looking and so far worth the money off road and especially on the road as they take the bumps, cracks and holes very softly. My daughter has 2006 LJ that I put Bilstein 5100 on and they are very hard hitting on the road (bought before I discovered the forum). It sets higher than I expected which made me very happy after all the money I spent on this lift. It was so much more work than I expected and several rookie mistakes added to the timeline. I took it to my local 4 Wheel Parts shop to get it aligned and to look for any mistakes and I got a job well done with no issues and not much adjustment needed to align. $150 piece of mind was well worth it. I documented this build on the forum to attempt to give back some because It has been very helpful to me on many things with my LJ and my daughters. There is a lot of details that I did not document as its been a rough 4 months without my dad and I just was not thinking about it just trying to get it done. I hope something in this process helps someone and once I get in some more trail rides in I will update with more details on the shocks. As with all Jeep projects I'm done but not really because I need fenders, rock sliders, gears and lockers. Thinking 4.88 with ARB air lockers and I have settled on Metal Cloak all around but damn they are expensive, and I have not bought a gun in 6 months because of this Jeep stuff.

Tom Woods drive shaft and Advanced Adaptors SYE kit. Still cant get my speedometer to work and have taken the speedometer gear in and out 6 times trying to line up. 6 spd manual.

Well once again a bunch of time (10 months) has gone by since I added any follow up to my build on this forum. To add to it can't believe were in this crazy situation right now. Another thing to add to the long list of why to own a Jeep. Its great for social distancing and healthy for your mind to just jump in the Jeep and go crawling through the woods alone. So I have been busy and here is what I have done. Very proud that I have done all the work with exception of gears/locker install, was fearful of screwing that up. Oh yeah one thing I got done that was more important than all the below. I got the 2006 TJ Unlimited added to Hagerty's Insurance list and now have my Jeep insured for what I have in it for a very low yearly cost. I submitted to underwriters production numbers and some write ups on how the Jeep community loves the LJ's and pics/details of mine and that they are a collector vehicle. Took quite a bit of persistence but I go it done about 3 months ago. So if you have one and its not a daily driver I suggest getting a quote. I'm sure 04,05 could be added as well.

-ARB air Lockers front/rear
-4.88 gears-Best decision I have made along with the Falcon Shocks
-RuffStuff diff covers
-ARB twin Air compressor w/2.5 gal air tank mounted inside on top of my sub box that holds 2ea 10" JL Audio subs. Was too pretty to put under my Jeep.
-500w JL Audio amp- mounted under steering wheel. not easy but worth the pain. Just added one in same spot in my daughters 06 LJ last week.
-Oracle ColorShift Halos and rock lights (swore I would never do this) but I did and now like it
-s-POD- wish I did this first. Its a must have not a need to have
-Phantom Quick Draw- Cool product. www.phantomholsters.com
-MetalCloak Arched 6" fenders/flares and rock sliders- This was a lot of work and $$$ but worth every bit of it. Really changed the look and capability of my Jeep
-Kleinn air horn- yeah was against this too but my 16yr old son talked me into it. Was easy/cheep add since I had the air system and is kinda fun.
-Front and rear bumpers are next. Probably JCR Offroad

One more thing I did in my spare time- Helped a friend put King Coil overs on a JKU. Holy S@!$% was that a challenge for a couple guys that did not have a lift or any experience with installing them.

Looks great man! I'm in GA as well, stationed at Ft. Benning, and looking to get my first LJ. Had some CJs and TJs and a JKU, but ready to get my dream jeep started. Yours looks phenomenal!

Thank you. There are some good ones out there. Found a LJ rubi in TN for a friend from WI. He flew down and drove it home.

Just noticed the pics of it finished with the MetalCloak never loaded. Here is an overdose of them. And a couple of my upgraded seat covers I added last night.

Thx. Wish I could take credit for the JL idea. I have done this for a few years because at times they would come loose at interstate speeds. Then I started liking the look so ride that way most often. They just lay on top of my sunscreen cover.

Lets get an overdose of some flex shots. I think we all want to see what those fenders look like with the tires tucked up in them.

Did a ride at new off-road park in North GA but only one pic that someone sent me. I put it to the test on a rock climb following JKU w/5” long arm and 40’s and no problem. First ride with no tires rubbing and loved it.
