31" tires with 2-3" lifts?

Wasn't trying to be an ass, brother, just letting you know. They're both a good-looking rim, regardless, though I prefer the Canyons over the Ravines, myself.
Where the hell is Jim ! (@bobthetj03)
I think he painted those (refurbished) rims if I remember right

He did, and they looked great. Had 'em on his trailer, too, if'n I recall correctly.

Is the at Hidden Falls? I'm going there this Sept and I have pretty much the same setup, 31's on 2.5" sus lift

Yes, it is Hidden Falls. That’s the old days. Great place to wheel. That’s coming down from Wildcat Mountain. I wouldn’t do it on 31’s, but there’s plenty to do there on 31’s up to 37’s. 33’s are a great tire for that ORV. Go to Wolf caves too. I did it on 31’s and 33’s, but could have used these 35’s! I envy you getting to wheel there. Have a great time!

Read a little of post, but didn’t really see much about 32” tires, mostly 31“ or 33”. Asking as my LJ came with 32” on 15” rims with 2” spacer lift looks pretty good. Any reason not much discussion about 32”? I haven‘t had a chance to get off road with it yet so not sure if there is fitment issue or not. The tires stick out from the fenders about 1.5” or so. Thinking of doing a 2.5-3” lift which seems reasonable to do on LJ without affecting much other items. I know 33” would be largest I’d go but so far fine with the 32”.

There's quite a bit of discussion on 32s, just not in threads that are about 31s.

Well thank you, now I feel dumb! Didn’t really think about searching for a different thread. Just saw this one and a bunch of talk about 31” and 33” was thinking “What about 32?”

I am running now 31 inch tires. My lift is just 2 inch spacers front and rear. Taking into account the spring sagging( there are the original coils from 2004), it is more like 1 inch lift. Given the fact that I don’t have front sway bar disconnects, this seems to be enough for my use (light trails, parks, forest roads, sand).
Together with rear selectable locker (I run rear Dana 44 with elocker and disk brakes), front XJ Dana 30 (HP) with Yukon Grizzly locker, manual hubs (it enables me to run highway optimized front driveline angles, because front driveshaft is not spinning on highway, it provides pretty good ability on types of terrain that I am targeting.
What is good about 31s, is the fact that it is easy to get them to fit TJ.
If you add proper gearing for 31s ( in my case with 4.0 and 42RLE should be minimum 4.56, with 4.88 being better choice), and black magic pads front and rear (with 31s and these pads you get decent, like modern car decent, braking), you get a very solid daily driver with decent off-road ability. It is true that I have engine (metalcloack oil pan skid plate) transmission (stock comes on TJ 2004 auto) and transfer skid plate (stock), and I they will thing or two, but it is fine.
I am really happy that I stayed with 31s.
I would say that proper tummy tuck with flat skid plate would make things far better.

So, I'm late to this, but this is from my trip last year to HF. The 31's did great and was able to keep up with my buddy's JKU on 37's for most of the trails. We're heading back this Sept. Such a great time.
I bet the reason there's not much on 32's as that is an uncommon size sold in stores. Usually it's 31, 33, 35, 37, 40?

Planning to go there after I am done installing back my transmission skid plate, adding metalcloack oil pan skid plate and fixing the wiring to my rear elocker.
Did you have to use front discos? Did you drag the skid plates a lot?

10/10 recommend HF. It's not a very big park, but worth it compared to the mud parks in the houston area where I'm from. Yeah, I have disconnects on the front which gave me some great flex. I thought a couple of times I might need limiting straps, lol. I have the barns belly and engine skid plate setup. Yeah, I high centered a few times, but it wasn't anything I couldn't "wiggle" the jeep out of. But, the two or three times I high-centered, I could have avoided with locked axles, which is the next upgrade

I have elocker in my rear dana 44 and autolocker in the front dana 30. If I have traction on one wheel, then I expect to pull out on it.

This thread just saved me a ton of money. Still going to spring for the DPG/OME Ultimate Kit, but don't need to muck around with a BL or MML, won't need a tire carrier on the rear bumper, and the tires are going to be a ton cheaper.
