Greetings All,

Been a lurker here for a while, figure it's time to become more active.

I have a 1999 TJ with well over 200,000 miles on it. currently running OK, but has a lifter tick, and is developing a starting problem.

I am in the process of obtaining a 4.0 from an 86 Cherokee, mileage unknown. My plan is to rebuild the Cherokee engine, and swap it into my TJ. Of course TJ specific items will be transferred to the "new" engine.

My questions is are there any things I need to look out for, tips and tricks, or any road blocks to my plan?

I have experience building engines, and will have a machine shop do any milling work needed.

I am not opposed to adding some performance, but this is a daily driver Jeep, not a swamp buggy or Rock Crawler.

Thanks in Advance for all responses,

Andy
