Casualty Report: LJ broke the feed side fuel line where the hardline connects to the plastic line. While towing out the LJ he also blew a bead. Lastly, my tail pipe didn’t survive. On Friday I hit the end of it in some rocks and over the weekend it became more mangled to the point I had to remove it.

Summary: Overall a great weekend and great time to give the Jeep a shake down after installing the mid arm and outboard job. It’s noticeable the rear out performs the front now. Within the next month or so I’ll do the front as well. Now I’m looking forward to getting back on the trails and riding more.

Man, Im jealous!!!! That food looks awsome :) Now Im hungry as hell LOL
Great pics, looks like a good time for sure!

I am going to AOP today. First time ever out on a trail. If I stay on the green trails, will I be okay?

Yeah, you’ll be fine on green. I saw your posting on FB Middle TN Group. Plenty of green trails to ride. The main thing you want to focus on is getting comfortable with your Jeep.

Yep, same guy. And yeah, that’s my hope. If you were me, would you go to to coppinger cover or AOP. I’m leaning AOP because I know where that is.

Sorry, late reply. First time out, I’d do the greens at AOP. If things were to go south at all, you’ll have support from staff. The Cove, can get wild (mostly the ppl there). If things go south there you’ll be up a creek without a paddle praying your stuff doesn’t get vandalized/ set on fire. All the turns at the Cove look the same. There’s no map for the Cove. You’ll have to build your own map with gpx files. I’d recommend group rides there.

Jeeps and wenches group in Middle TN is having a ride there next weekend. With 35s a lift and good gearing you’ll be set there. Regardless what other say the majority of the Cove can be rode in 2hi.

AOP is a pretty serious park. Most of if not all their blue trails are any other typical parks black trails. The greens will allow you to learn shifting (if manual) when to ride in 2hi and 4hi and 4lo, and use lockers if you have them.

I went to Windrock today. I would recommend Windrock over AOP for learning to off road. There’s a lot more to ride and see. 72,000 acres will keep you entertained for a long time. The change in weather and seasons make one trail completely different each visit. Only thing is group rides, AOP, typically doesn’t have much traffic. Windrock on the other hand typically has traffic on their more popular trails. I ran Trail 16 first thing, hit four different groups of traffic. The first it took nearly an hour to get around. The others were much more kind.

Let us know how your ride went today.

It was a good learning experience and I’m glad I went. I made it to where trail one begins to Section off in to the more challenging trails. I turned around there.

-I learned I need to bring the tools to disconnect the sway bars
- I leaned I need to bring something to air down my tires and then a gauge
- I learned I need to get some sort of a chock for stalling on a hill

I ran into some issues with oil pressure dropping to zero and overheating. I also stayed in 4 high. I also stalled several times.

id like to do a trail that’s rocky like trail 1 but without the inclines. I don’t think I have enough experience with an off-road vehicle (I’ve never been in 4x4 mode or driven Offroad at all before today. The most Offroad I’ve been is in my yard in a truck to spread mulch.

it was definitely a challenge that I’m willing to try again...just something a little less complex so I can master one skill at a time.

I live in the Boro so windrock is a bit of a drive but may be more up my alley.

I have two tool bags I work out of. A side from a welder, grinder and other large tools, I’ve built my entire Jeep with those two bags. I like it that way, I have (basically) every tool I’ll need always with the Jeep either on the trail or in the garage.

I’m a little stumped on the oil pressure issue.

I live 10-15 min away, Smyrna so if you ever need help with something just let me know.
