Picked up this ‘04 rubicon about a year and a half ago just as seen above. 117K miles for a good price, and it was off to the races (and by races I mean researching this forum and buying parts)

I had big plans for 35’s and a tummy tuck, and started ordering parts. front fenders were the one thing I had trouble “ordering to taste’ until I found some small company advertising on eBay. Loved the lines, bought them and did my best hack paint job in my tiny condo back yard.

Rough Country Skid
full rokmen suspension links w Currie ends

had some fun, decided the Rusty’s kit was too sketchy, but wheeled a bit and even got my son a matching rig

then we learned more about how it drove and decided to fine tune it some. more to come.

Added some Rancho shocks and wheeled it with janky steering for a bit.

Had been wanting to get the Jeep as light as possible and my son had been begging me to remove the top and doors, so we made some more changes:

Top removed
Bestop Bikini top
doors removed
smittybilt 10.5k winch
pulled swingout rear bumper
EAG low profile rear bumper with hitch
Finally went to Currie steering

Went to a local mud park and tested the winch a few times with my new GF, she totally passed the test, helped run and hook us off to a tree and everything. It was a great shake down for the upcoming mountain trip my son and I were going on.

Here we are all loaded up to head to the Gunnison Valley for a week of fun. I was so concerned about my weight being centered I didn’t even think about how much of a bonehead move it would be to haul an open top Jeep backwards at 80 mph for 1k miles. Luckily I pulled the bikini top before we left and we caught very little rain.

Had only a few hiccups on the way up.

The Jeep is an absolute blast to drive now, handles great, rides great for a tiny wheelbase, just needs a stereo upgrade.

Took my boy white water rafting and we went straight from there to go camp at Taylor Park. So I used a cool little hitch basket to carry our gear.

On the rafting trip (lower Taylor river, safe for little ones) we got pounded with rain. It was VERY cold and we went straight from the river to the camp site. My son made me very proud and kept high spirits the entire time.

I think it’s safe to say the Jeep got a little dirty

Nice! Do you have a link or info on the front fenders?

Let me see if I can find the shop. I believe these are 4“ flare “hoodline” meaning they taper in towards the grill following the lines of the hood, as opposed to staying full cab width all the way to the grill.
