The term Gold Star Spouse traditionally refers to the surviving loved one of a military member killed in action or died of wounds sustain in combat. Gold Star Spouses Day was created to not only honor the spouses, but also the families of the fallen.
The recognition of the sacrifices made by generation of military spouses and families is not only a memorial for the fallen, but a remembrance day for the survivors, and an appreciation for those who are at times overlooked for their support and service to the United States, our country.
