I’m planning on buying a 5 channel AMP, & want to know where is the most ideal place to mount would be ? Preferably off the ground but concealed. Any thoughts? Suggestions?
I put my sub amp under the back seat. There is a little room above the steering column. I also thought about the place up front where abs would be ( I don’t have abs). I thought the heat would be bad for the average amp.
Under the steering column is ideal, you have good ground location, close to the head unit, and also you can run a power line through a grommet in the firewall. I have two amps in this spot. What amplifier are you going for?
Not my Jeep, but as reference.

Wow! I think under the steering column is the way to go. Thanks !Mount it under the steering column. This is a safe place and keeps it out of sight. No concerns of water or heat in this location. There are numerous threads with various brackets and mounts that can be used.
Here are a couple of my photos. Sorry I couldn't find a good photo of everything mounted and wired up. I can try to get one tonight. This was made with a $1 cutting board. I was going to use wood, but this was easier to cut and gave additional room due to thickness. The 90* brackets slide right over the two bolts on each side of the column and bolt up tight.

How is the wood piece attached to the Jeep (zip tie, glue, screws, bolts, magnet.....), and to what is it attached to?
What are the dimensions on the L brackets? (Trying to judge size so I can build this.)Mount it under the steering column. This is a safe place and keeps it out of sight. No concerns of water or heat in this location. There are numerous threads with various brackets and mounts that can be used.

More detailed pictures would be great if you have them.
I stumbled across this & am super excited about not having to mount my amp under a seat as previously planned. Thank you for sharing.
I got my Helix six channel under the steering wheel by making a custom bracket. It is a pretty big amp and takes up all the space.
1.97” x 10.24” x 7.48”
Thank you.In the top pic there is a t-nut in the middle of the board. There is a hole on that bracket thing under the steering column for a bolt to go into the t nut. It's been several years, so I don't recall exactly how I got a wrench in there. But I did one way or another.
